Videographer booking.

owlalice, 29 June, 2013 at 18:35 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hello!

In my opinion, we have got a great deal from a videographer, and there is only a small deposit to pay, to book them, so should we just go for it? I love their style of work, but it would be a luxury, not an essential purchase. We have already booked our photographer.

OH is concerned about money, and what might happen in the future (jobs, rent, etc) but he likes the videographers style, etc. I'm only working part time at the moment (all that was offered after being made redundant from full time work) so I think thats a lot of the issue for him. I am trying to get full time, work overtime whenever possible. Family have been very generous, but I feel that if our situation doesn't change, the videographer money, could go towards a honeymoon.

My questions are, should we go for it and book? And everyone who had a videographer, was it worth it? Were you pleased, etc?

Thank you!

xxx

I would recommend to go for it - I've a friend and one sister who didn't and they really regret it now. We got one and he has given us a 15 minute clip already and we're delighted with it - I can't wait to see the real thing. We saw it a luxury as well and didn't really want to 'waste' money on it but the reason we went with it was when we saw other friends' videos - they were great and capture stuff you don't get with pictures!

I had this ponderence, and today it got resolved. I felt it was alot of money, a luxury, so thought well ya know we can DIY it just set up some cameras least then we will have a record of the day....then my sisters highlights clip got given to her....

I wept...like a baby....i didn't even do that on the day...it was amazing, seeing things from an outside perspective, seeing peoples faces and trembles that you didnt notice because you were concentrating on other things....things you missed that you were told about but would have loved to have seen.

I would rather spend the money and it "be a waste" than i would scrimp not have anything and regret it.

I personally think you should go for it! By the sounds of it, you really like them and their style and I think you would probably regret it if you didn't book them. Besides, like you say, there is only a small deposit to pay which should soften the blow a little bit... It is a luxury I suppose but it is your wedding day after all, and think about afterwards when you want to look back on the wedding and you have this fantastic film that is just going to let you go back and relive those memories!

Yeah, go for it Smiley smile

Slightly biased, as it's what I do - if you think you want one, then you do definitely want one. Most things at a wedding are luxuries and details that you wont get to see again, unless you have a videographer and a photographer.

If the deposit is low, then that is great, if the rest of the payment is going to make the honeymoon or other part of the experience worse try asking if you can pay maybe a bigger deposit, but make the balance say 4 weeks after the wedding or whenever you get the disc. Be upfront about this with your videographer and you may find they can be flexible. If this isn't something they can do then look elsewhere, we all have our own style if left to our own devices (which we love!), but most of us can adapt to fit what you want if you are specific. If you like something your chosen videographer does, ask others if they can do it, or do it in that way, especially if you show examples of what you want.

Either way you will enjoy your day, but if you regret not having one, it's too late to fix it.
