I would say do some subtle things, you don;t necessarily have to do them to your dress either! I am going the vintage route, too and I am wearing my hair down with just a bit pulled back with a flower in my hair on the left side. We went looking on Saturday but both being complete novices at wedding dress shopping, we had no idea about where to go. We got a few names of wedding dress places from magazines but to be honest.

I found the website in Wedding Ideas magazine, it's one of the popular ones so i'm sure they wouldn't associate themselves with poor quality goods.

I hope your dresses are what your looking for ladies, , give us a flash when they arrive

Hey, just thought I'd add this link to the discussion of vintage dresses

I found these https://www.velvetbirdcage.co.uk/index.html ladies when I was looking for a BM dress for me for a friends wedding a couple of years ago. Actually went to see them as they are local to my mum, and the dresses were good quality. Lots of vintage styles, will do made to measure at what seem really good prices, and for some dresses will mix and match top and bottom, I think.

They also do a bespoke service, but probably not really that useful for mail order!

Most of the frocks are shown in different colours but they really do offer masses and masses of colours, including more bridal ones (Ivory, white, champagne etc).

We're having a seciond reception a few months after the wedding down where my mum lives (and joint with her 60th b'day) for all teh family friends we couldn't invite to the wedding. I am really hoping I can afford to get this this one:

    https://www.velvetbirdcage.co.uk/shop/nopcart/rockabilly.html

    or this one:

    https://www.velvetbirdcage.co.uk/shop/nopcart/dirty_dolly.html

They also do a try before you buy service and you can get fabric swatches.

PS - they are absolutely nothing to do with me, I was just really impressed with them when I went to see them before, and hope they can have a successful business - its just 2 friends who set up togetehr (both are also designers and seamstresses too).

Ordered the City Slicker and it arrived today. The photos don't do it justice ... it looks like it cost far more than it did.

    I love it!!!!

I felt a bit 'Monica from Friends' trying it on on my own this afternoon but its just perfect!

Oh I saw this website advertised on You and your Weddings too, I think it looks great, the prices are very good and the City Slicker one is just beautiful, pretty much what I'm looking for too!

    Hi,

Don`t know if this is any help but I have some vintage style hair fascinators on my new site. |There are some which are tonal dusty shades which are pretty and can be worn in the hair or could be worn as a wrist corsage. I also have some little bridesmaid hair bands which would go with that style too. If you need help email me or give me a ring. www.weddingfascinator.co.uk

    Hope it helps
