Walking Down the Aisle Song

Tracey86, 25 March, 2012 at 12:06 Posted on Planning 0 22

What are you having?

H2B and I are really struggling with music, he is a musician and is very passionate about music and I think that it is making the decision even harder because he is picky and doesn't like mainstream music whereas I do. So that coupled with the fact that our aisle is TINY, the ceremony room is very small as there is only 16 of us so by the time any piece of music has "got going" I could have walked up and down the aisle 20 times!

Any suggestions ladies?

I'm thinkin of having the harp version of Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis either played by a harpist or just downloaded an played on the iPod. You could just have the 1 verse played for your short walk and would still sound beautiful!

We are getting married in a windmill with 18 guests. The ceremony room is a big as the bottom of a windmill - SMALL!

I have the same dilemma as you. Current fave is the instrumental version of Kissing You by des'ree, I'm sure you would recognise it if you heard it, but you'd wonder where you had heard it as it's not too mainstream.

If you come up with any shorter ideas let me know!

Perhaps choose a 'part' of a song or music piece?

Thanks for the sugesstions. DuckyBum, I love Kissing You, it's in my "Wedding Music" folder.

I've just had a slight rant at H2B because he kept making stupid suggestions (well not stupid in his eyes, they were good songs, just not wedding appropriate). I launched into a strop that we would never find anything suitable with a good length that meant something to us both, blah blah blah! Basically I threw a tantrum! ?

So bless him, he's said he'll write something, why we didn't think of that before I will never know so he's taken himself off into the study with his recording equipment and is getting creative. Looking forward to hearing what he coms up with Smiley smile

Well, he has written a really lovely piece of music that made me cry when I first heard it. He has thought about it so well giving time for an introduction and then for my BM to walk in and then my Dad and me. Its really lovely, I'm so pleased with it and really glad that H2H came up with the idea of writing something himself. I'm a happy lady right now Smiley smile

Haha, get yourself a musician! Although to be fair it does have its drawbacks like when he is playing the keyboard or the guitar and insists on sitting in the living room to do it when I am watching the TV! Haha!

Stick with Kissing You, it is beautiful!

I walked in with Des'ree "Kissing You" and it set my OH off [:'(] It's not mainstream but people recognise it and love it. In our wedding video, when Des'ree starts warbling (whatever the technical term for that kind of singing is), the OH's lip starts going - he couldn't have timed it better, bless him x

LOVE the instrumental version of 'kissing you' except the version I have from the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack has dialogue from the film at the beginning and near the end which puts me off using it for my wedding. Does anybody know where you can get the instrumental version of the song without the dialogue?? I have searched the net but not had much luck. ☹️

I'm walking down to 'Everlong' by Foo Fighters, as we both love the song. Were going to go with original, but thinking we'll go with the piano version.

Just listened its lovely, are u just playing it on an iPod or having a string quartet (if that's the right term!)?

I love Kissing You as well but OH isn't keen! I might try and convince him to let me have it played while we sign the register though or during th wedding breakfast, do u guys think it would sound ok at either of those times?

I had Etta James - At Last, not a long song but I had a very short aisle. My bridesmaids didn't start walking until the song kicked in. It worked out great x

I am thinking of having We've only just begun by The Carpenters, I love it and i have found one that I think suits us as a couple which was harder than I thought. Boy is more traditional and just music, but I like the idea of having it sung by my friend as I walk down

    Here are my tips

Edit the intro to make it shorter. You can edit the begining of Kissing you quite easily to make the into shorter.

If you are having bridesmaids send them one by one infront of you, leave big gaps inbetween.

somewhere over the rainbow israel kamakawiwo'ole is a good one. Start the bridesmaids when he starts woooo woooing and then you start when the words starts

Instrumentals work well because the words wont matter so much. To find acoustic versions including Kissing you google:

    Kissing you Karaoke
    Kissing you backing track
    Kissing you acoustic instrumental

It can take a bit of searching to find a good one, but worth it.

    Happy Planning!

    Laura

I'm having Flight of the Conchords 'Most Beautiful Girl... in the room'. We both love FOTC and want something no one (even my OH) will be expecting, and I think it will make him laugh!

I'm not sure what I'm going to have, but I'm thinking of the Noisettes version of "When you were young" it's so beautiful.
