Want, want, want! Need, need, need!

Mr_P, 18 April, 2016 at 12:27 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hello and happy Monday.

Some interesting replies to Fridays question of why you're getting wed. As promised though, another light hearted question today -

In terms of your wedding, what have you seen that has made you go "I want it, I need it!" - maybe it's just a little thing, maybe its the biggest, most expensive item on your wedding bill.

Maybe you want it but can't have it.

Was it something you'd never even contemplated until you saw it in a shop window, in a magazine or (dare I say it!) on Pinterest!

Happy foruming and many thanks for my birthday wishes from over the weekend!

From a blokey point of view, I have found a tobaccanist and they have some amazing cigars. Not sure what one im going to get yet but its going to be a lot of money for a cigar. I need to get a bottle of good scotch which will be a hundred quid or so too.

As I dont need hair or makeup doing i think I can splash out on some luxury for me too and as a socth drinking family why not spend it on something I like and can enjoy ?

    Thrones.

I'm not gonna lie - we saw the idea somewhere (I forget where) and were like YES. We trawled the internet and eventually found someone (relatively) local who could hire them and do the rest of the decor too Smiley smile

Last week, I saw some trees with roses in at the Florists. I'm kind of thinking that I need them too Smiley winking

Impulse control is a huge issue for me!

    So many things....

A VOG- we definitely weren't going to have one... until I met one at a wedding fair and loved his work and decided we WERE!

Bunches of sweet peas (both my Mum and my favourite flowers, that will be barely in season and therefore expensive!) for our table decorations instead of the budget option of the lilies the venue provides.

My dress.... so much for 'I'm not spending more than £400 on a dress I'll only wear for one day'.... double that and some!

Our cake.... H2B is having NO say in it at all.... he want's a minions cake. I've shown him pics of the front of the very traditional thee tier classic cake we are having.... what he doesn't know is I've completely blown the budget by arranging for our cake lady to make a 'minion surprise' on the back of it, incorporating a model of our spaniel in it too!

THOSE shoes.... half the cost of the dress, but ohhhh.... no I must NOT do it!

A hand made pearl and diamanté hair vine.

Getting the inside of our rings engaged with something very personal that only H2B and I will understand.

To be honest, I could go on and on and on... our 'tiny, small budget, only closest friends and family, no unnecessary expense' wedding is turning into everything we said it wouldn't BUT we are both happy with that!

Nothing that ive seen places but just the things ive envisioned from childhood so church, musicians and dress

the dress will have to be made because its unique and as for church and band im not sure which one yet... we arent attached to a church but im very close with 3 vicar's and it could be any good band

it would be way cheaper to have a registry office and DJ (or Ipod) but they're such big things that id rather not get married than give up on that... without the church it doesnt feel real to me and a DJ just always feels like a kids party or school disco and never have any music I like - I just really cant stand them ☹️

I always wanted a bouquet of sunflowers- so I have it Smiley smile

A honeymoon was a big WANT/NEED for us too, as we will struggle to get away after the wedding while saving for a deposit on a house.

Mine is a string trio. I don't need it, but I really wanted it so we have booked one. Oh and a sweetie buffet, and a photo booth and giant love letters on the dance floor. And peonies and hydrangeas for the flowers. And a floral arch over the marble gazebo where we say our vows. And rose petals along the aisle. I could go on....:-) x

We NEEDED a light up Love sign, NEEDED a sweetie table and I NEEDED that perfect dress! :-) I justified it all because my shoes were just £18.50 from Debenhams! (I'll just forget the make up that I've bought, the new bikini for honeymoon, his shoes, the honeymoon itself, and upgrade on said honeymoon, because they were all things that we NEEDED too!)

We have a tiny budget and had Marks and Spencers vouchers so I was intending to have a flower package from them - I quite liked them but wasn't all that enthused about it - I adore flowers and they were just a but 'meh'.

I absolutely fell in love with the style of a florist near us who has been brilliant about 'getting' my vision for my bouquet - sweet peas, lisianthus, cornflowers, lavender etc - all flowers which are soft, unstructured and fragrant. I'm going to have to change some things to allow it in our budget but I really, REALLY want it!

Ours is probably our cheese tower. I'm certain we are serving way too much food (OH doesn't agree haha) and we could certainly do without cheese - but we don't want to, so we won't!
