Wanted - Free Photographer/Videographer

Whilst I don't blame you for asking I am a bit ? at a request for a photographer for free.

The old phrase "you get what you pay for" comes to mind...why would a professional tog want to give their services for nothing, and if your sister really can't afford a photographer, perhaps she could make up an album of family snaps?

Your family seem to make a habit of blowing the budget on the venue and leaving nothing for a TOG, it was your Cousin you were previously looking for a free TOG for wasn't it?

I'd be worried about a free tog and would just ask for friend's pics.

Also, I would ask on the 'wanted' forum rather than post here as you might get the kind of reply you need.

If you really do want something free why not ask at a photography college?

Thanks for all your helpful replies. The reason why I have posted on here is because it works. I posted on here for my wedding at Clearwell Castle and got a really good photographer and as mentioned I also advertised for my cousins wedding and also got a really good photographer.

Photography is too important to scrimp on in my cabbage.

I want a free TOG and VOG too, and free transport and a free dress, perhaps a free venue and caterer and free band? And then I'll follow it all with a free honeymoon!

Maybe they think they dont need to save for a TOG if its 'worked twice before'. Personally I cant believe they have the audacity to ask once let alone 3 times. If a TOG is so important then work it into your budget or spend less elsewhere....simples!!!

It's a bit of a liberty (in the words of Nanna Tate) but why should the OP care if they get a decent photographer out of it? Only risk they're taking is that the photographer they get might be a bit sh*t but if they don't value photography enough to pay for it then presumably it's a risk they're willing to take.

So you want a free TOG? Fine, I can understand those who don't have the budget scouting around for a cheeky freebie.

But.

You want a free TOG. With experience. And you want to vet their work. For the third time.

Damn - I didn't realise a pretty venue could get you a free photographer! I missed a trick there with my 'Hitched Awards Best Venue 2012'.

Oh, and the plural of "deer" is "deer".

And with the deer population through the roof, I'm not convinced that this presents an exclusive opportunity for a TOG.

These are probably really special, particularly photogenic deer. The Kate Moss of Deer World.

I'd do it if I could get a group shot of the whole bridal party being chased by a herd of angry deer, as per the chased by a t-rex/Star Wars AT-AT walkers photos currently doing the rounds.

If you blow your budget on a venue then expect other things to be free then you don't value those things enough to pay for them.

Wanted - free caterer.

I am getting married in august 2014 and there will be lots of greedy people there. We are looking for a free caterer due to to laziness as I can't be bothered to google any more. Our guests are very likely to be hungry and will be very appreciative. There may be deer.

If you are interested send me cake venison.

I know some photographers can be 'deer', but they are well worth it.

Sorry, jokes aside I find this pretty disrespectful. I have no issue with working for free if I feel it's right for me but it's on terms I'm comfortable with. The "budget restraints" clearly weren't an accident seeing as, as others have pointed out, your family clearly think "this works". To add salt to the wound, you want them to be experienced? Fair play to people wanting free work from a newbie, knowing their budget and knowing what they can get, but you want professionals to queue up and kiss the ground for a manor house? Yeah, because we've totally never seen that before in England!

It's effing hard to make it as a photographer, it's annoying when photographers battle to undercut each other, but it's even more annoying to have people merk the entire industry off. With all due (little) respect, I hope you don't find a (free) photographer.

I don`t usually like people mocking the original poster but got to say - funny stuff and I agree with the sentiments of those writing to express disbelief at your attitude. Do you go to a mechanic asking them for a free service / repair because you have a nice car / for the work experience? The hairdresser- because you have thick hair but have spent too much on clothes to afford a decent hairstyle? I could go on....

I hope no one is daft enough to come back to you though if I was being mean I`d hope you get results worth what you would be paying. In a recent survey 21% of brides said they wished they had spent more money to get decent photography. I hope you don`t regret being tight !
