MrsBunting, 16 August, 2011 at 18:23 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hia, Thought I would ask the wedding planning ladies about venues Smiley smile Organising a 70th birthday party for my FIL. Really want Down Hall in Herts, but they can only accommodate 60. I need it to fit more. My needs are: Fits 70-80 people Location ideally nr Epping/Harlow/Herts/wood ford Has on site catering Is nice! Lots of parking Possibly a licensed bar (not vital, it's a Sunday afternoon with afternoon tea catering) Mucho gracias!

I really wouldn't worry about missing out on Down Hall; I stayed there and ate in the restaturant a few months ago and I was really unimpressed. Really shabby decor and interior, food was nothing to write home about and not great service.

What about hiring out Smiths in Ongar? Lovely food there. Or, if it's afternoon tea you're after, Hanbury Manor just outside Ware does an afternoon tea and is nice. Sopwell House in St Albans also does one I think, but I have never been there so not sure on the quality.

Hello. I grew up and got married in that area! Have you thought about some of the barns that are available there? Lots of space, beautiful wooden surroundings, and the opportunity to add you own decor if required. They usually supply a list of caterers that come in to provide food...

Check Maidens Barn as a nice examples: https://www.weddingbarnessex.co.uk/weddings.html
