Was I expecting too much?

katgreene, 23 February, 2012 at 22:48 Posted on Planning 0 7

Our venue price included a flower package of 10 tablecentre pieces , top table arrangment and simple arrangement for cermony room. I was shown lots of pictures of venue done up (was not told of flower packages and didnt think to ask as our package was classed as the "upgraded package"). I was emailed picture examples of what flower lady has planned and to be honest Im disappointed. Was I just naive in thinking they would have more of an impact?
Ohh I cant paste picture from her email but it is:

"a single avalange rose with some looped and straight grass in a slender vase." So basically one small rose per table of 10 people

The cermony room ones and top table ones sound fine

    That's a bit meh...

Tell her her idea isn't worth the extra you're paying and to step up a bit.

Perhaps you should ask if there is any possibility of having different centrepieces? Maybe send her some images of what you had in mind and see if there is anyway to compromise? If you are disappointed then definitely say so.

I would ask what the 'average' package ones look like because you couldn't get much less than a singular rose! x

    This!

I would definitely have a word with them. If something is included in a package, they may be trying to get away with giving you the minimum possible.

However, be aware that floral centrepieces can be fairly expensive, even when they're seemingly simple so if you don't want to spend anymore money, the florist may be limited in what she can do for you, depending on how much money she's getting from the venue. There's definitely no harm in asking though!

    Good luck!

I would definitely go back to her and say that you were expecting something with more impact, particularly based on what the venue showed you. See what she comes back with but don't be afraid to push her and/or the venue on it. I think too often venues get away with (or try to) false advertising when they sell you on their space and if they weren't clear about the package and gave a false impression, that's their fault.

And just a thought, one of the best ways to add impact without significant cost is to add greenery - would that fit with your style?

I would def ask for a bit more, or go down to the average packahge.

my florist is included with our package and although the flowers in the centre peices are silk, the foliage is real and the bridal party flowers are real too. the woman was SO helpful and we can have exactly what we want flower wise. we could only have martini glasses/ fish bowls though.
