Was supposed to be having my first dress fitting tomorrow....

Hi All,

Need a little vent! I had some trouble arranging my first dress fitting with the bridal shop. I wanted to go and try it on a couple of weeks ago as i was worried about the amount of weight i had lost, I wanted to make sure it would be ok to be taken in. They assured me it would be fine and 6 WEEKS ago i booked for 12pm tomorrow.

The dress shop rang my mum today asking if we were on our way. Mum said it was arranged for tomorrow. The lady in the shop was very rude to mum saying I had made a mistake and needed to call asap!

I called and was rather calm about it, said there must have been some mis communication and we will just arrange another day. The lady was then really rude to me, basically saying it was all my fault. I know i booked it for tomorrow as I work Tuesdays but wasnt going to let it bother me until she kept going on about me making the mistake. There was no way she was going to say that they could have made the mistake.

When i asked when she could fit me in she said 2 1/2 weeks away. I explained that I was worried about the dress being too big and mentioned i wanted to come in a couple of weeks ago and she just fobbed me off. Wedding is 5 weeks saturday by the way! I told her id call her back as I couldnt handle talking to her anymore!

I called my friend who has just started her own business and she is altering the bridesmaids dresses. She calmed me down, told me to collect my dress tomorrow and take it to her.

I had great pleasure calling the dress shop and letting them know id be collecting my dress in the morning and would have it altered somehwere else!

I cant believe how rude this lady was. I was warned about this shop but had such a lovely excerience when i bought the dress. I guess they just wanted my money!

Have also hired the suits from them too so im too scared to complain too much. I shall do that after the wedding. Have also had a nightmare arranging the mens suit fittings with the same lady. She was even rude to OH's BM!

Thanks for reading if you got this far!

That is awful! I can't believe these people who's businesses should be so focused on customer service and word of mouth referrals - how can they be so rude?! Sounds like they are not fit to run a wedding business, it's such a shame you are stuck with using them!

I hate rudeness! You would think they should try and make this a happy time for you. I know they have to give bad news sometimes but this is just not necessary!

Glad you have someone you can trust to fall back on!

Thank you for your replies :-)

I picked my dress up today. Was a bit dissapointed as its got some pin pricks in it and a couple of buttons missing but nothing that cant be fixed. I suppose I cant complain as i bought an ex sample dress at the fraction of the price!

Went straight to my seamstress and tried it on! Its perfect - well too big but It can be taken in ok.

Going back to the seamstress tonight for bridesmaids fitting so i may just have to try it on again.
