W-dress belt

blueeyedgirl, 4 August, 2011 at 13:41 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi,

Hoping you ladies might be able to help me. This is my w-dress (from Phase Eight). I was thinking of having something to 'jazz' it up, maybe a belt to go round it, vintagey looking with buckle etc. Do you think it would go and where on earth would I start looking for something like that?!

Honestly, I think a belt would ruin it. You might get away with a ribbon sach but personally I don;t think it needs anything

I agree with Dolly, the dress is lovely as it is. I think the buckle above is too blingy to fit the style. A ribbon would work though. Although on second thoughts, there is a lovely horizontal seam above the waist and you'd lose that effect with even a ribbon. I'd leave it.

Looks like it is empire line, so perhaps a waist belt/sash would look odd? I make various belts and sashes. Maybe something like this?

    or this

I think it's lovely as it is. I think a belt would ruin the delicate-ness of it.

I wouldn't put a belt with an empire line dress, it would ruin the shape of the dress.

I would focus on jewellery, but the dress itself is beautiful.

I agree with MrsC no belt but some amazing 20's vintage jewellery - are you having a side tiara/headband?!

I really don't think you should have a belt, the dress is absolutely stunning and i honestly think it wouldn't work like other have said.

Go all out on a gorgeous side tiar vintage looking and drop pearl earrings or something, beautiful.

My headpiece is a Polly Edwards side tiara and looks quite vintagey, that sort of thing would look beautiful. Google them!

I agree with the others, it is beautiful as it is. Timeless elegance! Get a beautiful vintage style beaded bag, a vintage necklace/headpeice.

If I hadn't been all about the 50s dress, I would have sooo gone for something like this. Classic.

Thank ladies for the advice, looks like 'no belt' is pretty unanimous! I've ordered jewellery matching necklace, bracelet and earrings and have a comb for my hair as having an up do .Jewellery is precious in pearls range from glitzy secrets.
