I would have gone for similar colours to you had we not been getting married in the summer, your colour scheme would look very nice and elegant, but personally I think summer weddings need a bit more colour.

If it helps we are now looking at ivory, deep purple and a vibrant pink colour ( not sure exactly yet).

Guess you and your OH willl need to find a compromise.... on the other hand if those are the colours you really !! want...maybe just dig your heels in for a while and see where it gets you ?

Its worth remembering that if you only have pink and then struggle to get things in exactly that shade of pink it will lead to stress .

I think those colours sounds lovely and as long creise pink is a very bright colour whats more summery and as long as everything isn't black with just hints of Ivory and pink i don't see what his problem is, good luck though.

I think hints of black or charcoal grey on a brighter colour would be nicer for a summer wedding than full on black-with-a-colour-added iyswim? I see it that in 50 years time everything will look dated on our wedding photos anyway but I will still remember what a great time we had!

I have an OH just like yours, said I was in charge of all the organising, he would just turn up, so far he doesnt like my colour choices, save the date cards, table plan idea, flowers or my choice in bridesmaids lol,

he thinks a football themed wedding is the way to go lol

    Good Luck!

I think it's good that he wants to be involved to be honest.

Would you really want a particular colour scheme so badly you could disregard the fact he doesn't like it so much? After all, it's his day too. It's hardly 'groomzilla' behaviour asking you to consider a different perpective.

Like someone has already said, consider a compromise - grey would work really well with the other colours you've picked. I don't think offering to let him pick the cars is quite the right compromise, after all you'd want them to then fit with your colours? The colours will set the theme for the whole day and I think it's reasonable for him to want a say about it.

Im with your OH, black isnt very summery to me, however thats just my opinion. Perhaps you could compromise on a charcoal grey like someone said above. Toning the black down to a lighter shade of slate would really make it feel like a summer wedding and could be the compromise you need

If you definitely want the black maybe this can just be encorporated into dress- so Black suits and black BM dresses (we're having black BM dresses and getting married in september)

our colour scheme is grey and light blue

Our colour scheme is black, ivory (or white) and red. We're getting married this July, so definitely summer wedding! I've flashed our 'mood board' to give you an idea of how ours will work - if you like it, show you OH and tell him to substitute red ideas for cerise ideas!

We are having a lovely summer wedding and have gone for light blue with light pinks for the flowers and some bunting. Originally I would have liked pink but oh doesn't like pink and as it is his wedding too and therefore will be paying for it as well so we compromised. My oh hasn't really been involved much other than approving my plans so I think it's nice he has an idea of what your wedding will look like. As with the others, I agree that grey may be a good compromise. Ask him what colours he would choose and try and find something in between.

Hey, Congrats on booking the wedding!! I'm really sorry but I'm just not loving black at weddings especially in the summer, I think its a colour that splits peoples opinions. What about pastel colours, I really like the idea of pastel pink, yellow, blue, and green for summer weddings. You would need enough bridesmaids and grooms men to carry off having a colour each then you can incorporate them into you're flowers.

I'm getting married abroad and wanted something really summery but cos there arn't going to be enough people there I can't really carry off that theme, and it can't be guaranteed I can get the colours needed for the flowers. I orignally was going to go with white/red or coral but one of my bridesmaids had the foresite to explain that they both had very pale skin and had spent a week in the sun, so the red skin red dress combo was not a good one.

In light of this I have changed to white and turquiose. Nice a simple but summery and it will match the sea.

You will totally need to compramise with him on this though, and at least he is getting involved. If he's anything like my OH when you have made all the big decisions when it comes to the details (invites/flowers/favours) he will have minimum input.

Hope this helps.................good luck with you're planning.

I'm afraid I'm with a lot of the others. I dont think black "goes" with a summer wedding - not as a main "colour scheme" my OH and the other men in the party <dads, brothers, page boys, ushers> had top hat and tails, so yes the suits were black, but the cravats and the bridesmaids dresses, my dress etc were summer colours (we had ivory and baby pink (I wanted bright pink, I wasnt allowed lol). Maybe suggest grey or charcol to him instead of black Smiley smile or perhaps black suits with more "summery" colours in the waistcoats and cravats (if you are having those)
