My venue is doing it for me. They have asked me to provide detailed instructions and photos. The co-ordinator will send me photo's to check they have done it right and make any changes I request.

Me too, we can't have access at all before the wedding so the venue, florist and cake lady are doing it all. I really want to go in and check everything but I know it'll only stress me out so its best I leave it to the professionals! x

If you have the funds to hire someone then I'd get them to do it for you. There are lots of companies who can come in and do that sort of thing.

If not, then rope in some friends to do it for you, and get them a little thank you gift, or buy their drinks for them. I definitely wouldn't do it yourself, and please don't ask your bridesmaids to do it either. I did it once when being a bridesmaid and it took ages, and then I had to rush to get ready and the bride shouted at me for not being ready when she wanted (which made me seriously p'd off because I was doing her a favour and saving her cash).

You will have so much more to think about and do on the day, so I'd leave it in the safe hands of others.

We can't decorate our venues, our breakfast is at Pizza Express so obviously it will be in use the night before. Our evening reception is at a golf club where the room is being used until 3pm for lunches. So, we are having to give them all the stuff with very detailed instructions and let them set up for us. A lot of trust, and I don't like delegating! My main fear is that we won't see the rooms until we get there with everyone else, so if they make a complete hash of it we won't know until it's too late!

Our venue has a wedding the day before ours so we're in the same situation. A combination of our florist, cake maker, venue dresser and wedding co-ordinator will be sorting everything on the morning of the wedding. This is probably for the best as I'm not creative at all and will probably be too stressed to sort things anyway! How much time will you have in the morning to get things organised? x

Do you have a friend you could ask? ....We're the same as our reception is at a local pub. I've enlisted a very good friend to be my 'visual co-ordinator', the title is a bit of a laugh as we've been friends for years and although I've not asked her to be a bridesmaid I wanted her to be part of the wedding. She's very good at interior design and has a great eye for decor. We're going to visit the pub a few times so she can get an idea of what we'd like and then she's going to go on the day to make sure everything looks good. I think I'd be worried if I was leaving it entirely to the venue xx

We are in the same boat as we can't get in to our venue until 9am on the day!! I'm a bit of a control freak and had planned to go myself but have accepted this wont work and will send me into a rushed panic getting ready! Luckily a very good friend of my Mum's is going to decorate for us, she will set up the tables and do all the pretty "girlie" things and my other half will go early with some of his friends and my Dad to hang bunting and do manly stuff! xxx

Sorry to post crash but can someone explain what you mean by decorating your venue and why you plan to do this yoreself - hoping i havent missed a very important part of my planning Smiley smile

our venue is unavailable the day before but the venue will be setting up the ceremony room with chairs and a company is doing the covers and sashes, florist or OH will drop off the centrepeice and the supplier is dropping off the jukebox. We are delivering our cake and favours, table numbers/centrepeices a day in advance and I'm expecting the venuw to set these all up for the afternoon.

have i missed some important decoration?

We're in the same position and OH is going to do it with his ushers, chair covers and flowers happening on the morning too- I trust him, in many ways I'm glad I don't to worry about!

I'm still waiting to hear do there is an event the day before, if so we can't decorate the reception venue until the mornin of the wedding. Today at a meeting I got told I can go in at 7, they will have the tables in the layout Iv asked and have the linen ready.

Iv got each tables worth of stuff in boxes, so in each box it has 1 centre peice, table names, candles, napkins, favours, kids activity packs. So at each table the co-ordinating box ( their all numbered) can be put down and no one have to wonder around to other boxes to find the right thing! I'm also making a book for everyone helping to set up ( this is expected of me because people know my OCD goes crazy when I'm stressed ha!) so in the book it will have pictures of the table layout.

My wedding isn't until 3:30 and y hair is the last to get done, so if I'm pushed for time the others can go an get sorted and I will leave the reception set up latest at 1. But Iv been told there will be staff on tap to help me if we get pushed for time.

Im lucky the reception venue is a 10 min walk from my house, and the registry is a 5/10 min drive from my house so all pretty close!

Thanks everyone - think i will try and coordinate something between my other half (who said he is happy to do it!) and the venue.
