We just gave notice! Woohoo!

WeddingPrincess, 3 September, 2009 at 12:52 Posted on Planning 0 12

OH and I just went and gave notice on our lunch break (stupid register office not open Saturdays grrr!!) and we are having a 'wedding weekend' this weekend and so I am a little excited! We are going to pick out rings and do a few other bits and bobs.

I have also figured out that by my reckoning we should be able to have completely paid cars, DJ, registrar, venue and all of HM all by Christmas which means that, so far, we are doing really well with the budget!

Happy days!

How is everyones planning coming along and has anyone got anything 'wedding-y' planned for w/e?

    Oh that is exciting.

My planning is going well - feel a bit stuck in a rut for the next couple of weeks until I go to my appointments with the florist, Hotel, jewellers about my WR and see about my tiara and jewellery. Nothing weddying planned this weekend though - just reviewing the guest list and internet research. Need a bit of a break anyway I think so its a good thing

Oooh Dom Rep looks lovely, we were looking at it for our HM! In fact, we had pretty much decided on it until we came across the deal to Egypt that we ended up booking! When do you get married?

Will you get like a wedding planner who is based out there or something or is it possible to do everything yourself from this end? I have always wondered that about getting married abroad...

Depending on if we are allowed to, we want 14th feb 2011, cos its so far away we will just do it through a travel agent, places like sandles etc give you a planner here, and there is a planner at the hotel, usually you will pay for the package and then anything extra you want i think you pay for when you get there, its generally a more simple thing with less people so less to worry about i think, all im bothered about is the location and my dress really! i think people that have it more in europe will find there own people or a specific wedding planner where they are gettin married.

Cool thanks for that! Oooh Valentines Day sounds lovely - why wouldnt you be allowed to?

Speaking of dresses - have you seen any that you like yet? Are you still going for a traditional style dress or a more 'beachy' one? I was really looking forward to dress shopping but I didnt get to go as I found the dress that I fell in love with on pre-loved and so ended up going to Leeds, trying it on and buying it there and then! I got it for half what they sell it for in the shop! Wouldnt change it now but still get excited looking at dresses!

I think some places will only do a wedding certain days of the week, plus you dont want your wedding the same day as someone else. im going for a beachy one, i never liked the big ones personally, though if i had it here i would probably go for a fishtail style. not done any shopping, but am toying with the idea of getting a knock-off from ebay, that way there is more pennies for the honeymoon. i havent looked on preloved, i might do that but i think they may all be bigger dresses. i want a chiffony empire line goddess kind of dress with pretty beading and stuff, havent seen the one of my dreams yet but quite a few I like, love jenny packham but when its 2k plus i cant justify it, its funny but since i decided to do it abroad, ive become a right cheap skate!lol

We aren't doing anyhing weddingy this weekend as we booked our honeymoon and looked at wedding rings last weekend, and then the silly man in the shop tells my OH that we don't need to look for rings until April anyway as gold prices go up before christmas and valentines day and usually go down a bit in april, unless they have risen a lot anyway! So now my Oh wont look until April for his ring. I am going to get mine as soon as I have the money as I just want a plain 2mm band anyway whereas OH isnt sure what he wants.
