wearing your engagement ring during your ceremony

I'm leaving it on my ring finger of my left hand. I will then swap it over so my wedding ring is "behind" it (so to speak) when we leave the church.

Im going to swap it to the other hand, just so my finger is "free" for the wedding ring.

We have asked for a close up picture of us exchanging rings so dont want my ER overshadowing my WR. Plus when that ring goes on thats it, it will not be coming off again ha.

I have also read its traditional to have the wedding ring first ( closest to the heart ) then engagement. I actually think mine looks better the other way so will be doing it all wrong I suppose lol.

Some places will insist that you remove any rings from your wedding ring finger - it's an old tradition to "prove" you're not already married.

I only wore my engagement ring intermittently anyway (I work in hospital so it's not allowed there) so it was no big deal for me to take it off - I wore it on my right hand.

This is what I did - I wore it on the left hand until about 5 mins before the ring exchange and then swapped it. When signing the register, i had them both back on the left hand.

I think I will swop my ER to my right hand before the ceremony too!

I'm just going to move mine to my right hand for the ceremony, i think most people i know have doen that.

I'm not moving my engagement ring, my wedding ring will be placed beside it on the day. I'm not being very traditional but I've had to have a bespoke WR made to fit my ER and this way sits the best and looks the best. ?

Me too. I already wear a rin gon my right hand but I'll just wear two on that finger for the ceremony then once my wedding ring is on I'll move my enagement one back to the correct hand.

I hadn't thought about it yet, but I suppose I will wear it on another hand or maybe on a necklace as it could always be my something blue (the stone is going to be a topaz)

As we'll be in a hotel, I just don't want to risk leaving it anywhere even in a safe, so will keep it on me!

I also don't want it on my left finger, I#ll either put on my right hand or give to my mum to look after until after the ceromony.

I am then having my wedding ring on first and then engagement ring - i have to take my ER off everyday for work so makes sense my WR is on first

I wore mine on my right hand for the ceremony then put it on with my wedding ring afterwards.

I am definately leaving my engagement ring on my left hand. The ring I wear on my right is the one I gave my daughter for her 21st & she died 6 months later & I have worn her ring ever since.

I was told by the registrar to make sure I wasn't wearing a ring no my wedding finger, not sure if it's a specific rule as such, but she certainly made it sound like it was.

I wore it on my right hand then swapped it into my left hand after the ceremony.

I have to take my engagement ring off for work anyway, my wedding ring never comes off.

I'll put mine on my right hand. It's a teenie bit tighter but it does fit on there luckily.
