weather worries

meggles24, 8 March, 2010 at 11:44 Posted on Planning 0 14

.. Anyone else worrying about the weather for their big day?

I know its preferable for it to be sunny but i think it might actually make me really upset if it rained! My venue is lovely but its the outside in the gardens thatsold it to me.

Of course we'll have brollys and there's nothing we can do but cross our fingers- But i was wondering if i was the only one truly worried about it ruining my mood!

Sorry i know it's miles off- i was just pondering! x

Oh bless you - its quite normal to worry!! - maybke you should make the most of the rain if it comes and get some fun photos done?

I saw on a photographers webiste that the bride and groom had not only brollys but wearing bright patterned wellies and they looked really cool.

Weather is the one thing you have no control over - so my advise it to plan for the worst and im sure in that case - the sunshine will be beaming down on you!!

Me! I hate the rain and I hate the cold (been trying to persuade oh to move abroad for ages!!lol) and I'm really worried that it will be both... That said, the day isn't about the weather, it's about the commitment so I think as long as I focus on that it can do whatever it wants!!lol

I'm not as worried about it being wet- |I quite like the rain actually but don't think i'll be splashing in puddles with my dress on!

It's more a case of i don't want all the photos to be grey and for people to not wander around outside

I totally understand you being worried, but it's one of those things you just need to try and not worry about and put out your mind as there is nothing you can do about it.

Im getting married in Scotland at the end of April, Im fully expecting rain, then I'll be pleased if it's dry!!

As everyone said, you can get some lovely pics. It poured down all day at my friends wedding and her pictures are amazing, they are some of the nicest ones I've seen and we were still outside for some of it, there were umbrella's everywhere so managed to stay dry!

Nope! Can't control it so why worry!!

Am praying it's nice as we want our drinks on the top deck of the ship, but if we can't then we'll just have to have them on the prommenade deck where we get married.

    Fingers crossed though!!!!

Unfortunately the weather is one thing that is totally out of your control. Don't worry though Photographers & venues usually have a back up plan if the weather is wet.

I bought myself a beeeyoootiful umbrella so that if it rains (which it will given that's it the West Coast of Scotland) I won't be too miffed as I get to bring my brolly out.

My photographer actually told me that he prefers greyer days as the types of photos he can get are more dramatic - plus bright sunshine isn't the most ideal photography condition.

I'm going to have a stash of wellies so that people won't be afraid to go outside and I'm going to set up a treasure hunt in the garden to make them go! Rain doesn't hurt so hopefully the more adventurous will be persuaded around.

I was also really concerned about the weather and have always wanted to get married outside...I was really stuck between 2 venues, (for you Deborah another NI bride) it was Belfast Castle and Malone House, I LOVED the castle but Malone was swaying it as you could get married outside and have these amazing views over the countryside under a pretty wrought iron archway BUT i knew then if it did rain i would be so so gutted so picked the castle. It also has lovely grounds so i HOPE it wont rain, September is the best month apparently but in the UK & NI we take our chances ladies. I will keep my fingers crossed for sunshine for you! x

    Aww you will be fine..

I got married 26th June 2004 - Supposed to be summer in the UK but it rained all day!!

It was hot & sunny the day before my wedding & the day after.

It did not spoil our day what so ever

    Debbie

Don't worry about what you can't plan! Buy brollies and have back up plans for photos etc. Learn to love the things that you can do if it rains. Saying that... I'm buggered if it rains (in Turkey!) as the beach isn't going to work in the rain! Hey ho! I'm sure the planner will have a back up plan!

The forecast for our wedding was heavy rain for two weeks leading up to the date. We woke to blue sky and sunshine and only got light rain about 5pm. I know it is hard but try not to think about it. Whatever happens you will have a great day.
