Website in exchange for photography

This is a good idea, but I'd mention where your wedding is, you'll probably want a more local photographer, than one from the other end of the country

A good and novel idea indeed! Just beware that professional photographers without an established website, may not be very experienced, or are part time or something else to be aware of. However, you could get very lucky that there is an amazing starting photographer who hasn't got around to producing a website yet... Just please be careful that's all I'm saying - the photography is the only last memory of your day, and whilst I'm fully aware of budgeting and the like (I got married a couple of years ago and the planning and budgeting is still very fresh in my mind), consider carefully where you make your budget cuts. Disclaimer, I'm a professional full time wedding photographer and also a recent-ish groom.

Thank you both for your replies, both very good points! Our wedding will be in the Yorkshire Dales in 2019. We've been advised that wedding photography is not an area to really cut costs on, so we'll be very conscious about this and will ask to see lots of examples of previous work!

A friend of mine is just starting up, she's offering to take non-professional photos atm, I don't know what her work is like, she's taking some at mine, as I already have a photographer I am happy to let her gain experience and use pics of us in her portfolio. She is looking to turn professional by next year, she has just finished uni, I could pass on your request if you like, no guarantee she'll take it up but you could ask to look at her projects etc and my wedding is in April.

Oh and she's based in Sheffield lol.

A friend of mine is using a guy called Robert dabrowski, she found him through gumtree , apparently he's just moved down from Scotland and is also building up a profile but she and her fiance love his pictures so he may be worth a look into too.
