That's the site I was going to recommend- it's great. Any particular part of the North you're interested in? Hitchers' recommendations are often as good as a travel site imo, so perhaps we can help?

I was going to say Mr and Mrs Smith - erm , how about luxury hotels of the world? I think they also have a small hotels spin off , although the selection in this country might be limited.

https://www.handpickedhotels.co.uk/ are good to look at, we stayed at the Seiont Manor 2 weeks ago while at a friends wedding nearby. Not sure if any will be in the right location for you though but have been to see a few of them in last few years and all have been great

ETA - Also https://www.britainsfinest.co.uk/ can be a good starting point.

Thanks, will have a look at those two now.

Looking at Lakes, upton Glasgow, Edingburgh and the north east.

Staying at The Sharrow Bay one night, need another hotel for the other night.

They all want 2 nights at the weekend....i've tried the Samling, Seaham hall....Don't want Crab & Lobster, Start at Harome as we've been recently.

    stuck now.

Any personal suggestions would be great ?

I stayed at http://www.townhousecompany.com/thebonham/ in Edinburgh for my sister's 30th last November, its not that far from the city and was a lovely hotel.

You could give tablet hotels a try, I've used them a couple of times when booking abroad for clients.

Nothing to add I'm afraid, as Mr & Mrs Smith, Handpicked and Tablet have all been recommended - I am sure you will find something on one of their websites.
