    Hey Cat,

Congrats on the wedding date! You've still got loads of time to get the right cake for you (it's not like dress shopping!). You have the advantage of being in ''low wedding season'' so it will make it easier to find a baker who is free. Saying that I'd definitely start looking into cakes and making appointments for tastings, places will start filling up now that Wedding Fair season is back up and running x

Hiya & welcome to hitched! Smiley smile
Yeah you've still got loads of time, have a search through facebook or net for local cake businesses and see if you can get rough quotes.
We knew the cake maker we wanted and just logged onto her facebook and she has loads of pics with prices so if you do the same it'll give you a rough idea of hat you have to pay.
Agree to have a look at supermarket cakes heard M&S are really nice, r you could ask a friend or relative to bake yours.
Loads of people do this on a budget and it saves you a lot of money and I've seen some really lovely looking ones!

Loads of time though so don't have to rush!
    Smiley smile

Edit : Had wrote Debenhams cakes and meant m&s doh!

As others have said, you still have loads of time.

If you're on a budget then I highly reccomend m&s or waitrose cakes. Friends of mine have had these and been really happy.

What's you budget an for how many people? Are your ideas for the cake specific?

We're having a Marks & Spencers cake, the ivory pearl one. I think it comes in under £200. They also do a plain round one, that you tier yourself, that can come in under £100, or even less if you have fewer or smaller tiers. You can decorate this yourself. We're adding a purple ribbon and adding some fresh flowers.

We had an M&S cake, they were doing a 3 for 2 offer so came in under £100 and was delish.

As a cake designer decorator I would say avoid supermarket cakes because you will never get the same depth or flavor as you would from a decorator. If need be bake your own to save costs.

Any good decorators book up early, I have bookings already for June, July, August and December 2014 so the sooner you book the better. Consider cake dummy tiers which will keep costs down but mainly tell your decorator your budget and they will create something to suit your numbers and pennies

    Goid luck x

Add local cake businesses on facebook. Once you locate a couple they seem to appear as suggested pages all the time. I found an absolute gem that way. The cake I fell in love with from Cotton and Crumbs was over £600 and I'd still have needed cupcakes or similar to make up numbers. My lady is doing a similar one for £100 plus my cupcakes for £1.50 each and they are amazing! This was one of her most expensive cakes per serving too.

I really appreciate everyone's help! I'll keep you updated!
