Wedding cakes...

mrsspeaktobe, 25 May, 2011 at 20:12 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hiya,

Does anybody have any prices on a 3 tier wedding cake - 1 tier fruit, 2 sponge please? We have one included in a package at our venue but wanted to know roughly what that ilk of cake is going for!

Thanks,

Char xx

We are paying £240 for a three tier cake. We are having fruit on bottom tier, Toffee sponge on next and vanilla sponge on top.

    hope this helps

Professinaly cake makes will a) charge more for a wedding cake and b) charge more for a more intricate design. your paying for the time it takes to ice and decorate rather then the baking!!

Dependant on design you are looking at £200-300 for fruit layer and 2 sponges, fruit cake takes longer, and is iced different so works out more expensive!

What Flo said. Professionally made could be around £300. Marks and Sparks do lovely 3-tiered cakes from about £80.

We are paying £225.00 for our 3 tier cake, it's square, chocolate with hand crafted roses.... my friend's mum is making it for us as she is a pro.... we were originally quoted £450 (erm don't think so lol)

If you are looking for cake ideas Marks and Spencer and Waitrose do some great designs and all different types, sponge fruit etc..... not bad prices either :-)

Between £200 - £300 depending on the detail of the icing decoration

I think £300 is about right - depends how much detail you want on the cake!

its not until you make cakes that you realise how much it all costs and how much time and effort goes in to them!

i made my wedding cake and it probably cost about £150-£200 to make but 1) it was huge and 2) the diamate letters cost £45 which didn't help!!

Bit foolish- but I've not a clue what mine is costing, I am having a cupcake tower with a tier at the top, My bridesmaids mum is making it, and the bridesmaid is paying for some of it for our wedding present... so I'm thinking not that much! (hope and prayer!) budgeted £300 just in case, anything else is a bonus x

Where do you live mrspeaktobe? I had a 3 tier made by a lady that bakes cakes for a hobby and she charged me £110. It was exactly what we asked for and tasted so so good. She has also made my sisters wedding cake, birthday cakes for my nephews and my daughters christening cake because we have been so impressed with her...
