Wedding car help!

jen_84, 24 August, 2011 at 20:44 Posted on Planning 0 16

I was just wondering how much people are paying for their wedding cars? We just need one for me and my dad, just to take us from my house to the venue (having the ceremony and reception in the same place). We've had wide ranging quotes so far, some as much as £555 which I refuse to pay for a 30 minute journey! We've had another that was less than half of that and while the cars were perhaps a little less 'polished', they had real character and I liked them a lot. We just don't want to be ripped off so if anyone wouldn't mind sharing how much they are paying, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Have you looked into taxi services? Some have elite cars that they use for weddings. I'm going to do this for my BMs.

I can't shake the dream of having a vintage car, I'm afraid! My BMs are being taken by my brother and sister in law in their cars (they have a nice BMW and a posh car that I don't know the name of!) so I figure I'm saving money there, so I can have a vintage car if we can find one where we don't feel we're being ripped off!

    Where are you based?

I've found a great company 'Aces Wedding Cars' as I wanted a Saab convertible for my OH as a surprise. They quoted £185 and they are travelling from Lincoln to South Yorkshire

The only thing OH is interested in is the car... I will be going from Hotel A to Hotel B which is about 20 second drive. Yep really... my OH is willing to pay £375 for a 20 second journey.....

We are paying £350 for a vintage 1951 Triumph Renown. Our church and venue are both within a 2 mile radius of our house, so not travelling very far. The cars are only booked for one wedding a day, so they have agreed to take us on a little longer journey back from Church -> Venue.

We've been quoted £220 for 2 cars (mercedes s or e class can't remember which and a chrysler voyager) to make a single 40 minute journey. I wasn't sure if that was good or not, so i'm gona keep on looking...

For a vintage VW beetle i was quoted £375 for as many journeys as we wanted, up to four hours, including time for photos after the church, champage and ribbons on the car.

For a vintage rolls royce silver cloud we've been quoted £350. I think, when we go to see it, if i think i can get in without ruining my dress then we'll probably book it.

We are going to use family cars. My Dad's and a couple of my Uncles. Cars was an area that I wanted to cut cost as I cant see the value in paying some of the stupid London prices I was quoted.

Haven't read the other responses so, can I just share what 've done?

We just needed the car to get me and dad to the venue which is where the ceremony and reception will be so don't need anything else. I just contacted a local executive taxi company and have either a BMW 7 series or Mercedes S class for the 'taxi fare' of £45

I can't be fannied with having the ribbon and all that chebang - no-one from the wedding will see it apart from us at the house so didn't see the point of getting ripped off for the price of the word "wedding"

We're paying £310 for 2 journeys from my parents house to the venue (about 40 minutes each round trip) and a 20 minute drive around with my H2B after the ceremony- just for some alone time and so he can have a ride in the car as our whole day is at the same venue.
