Wedding ceremony wording question

giddy, 20 July, 2012 at 14:54 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hello, hope you don't mind me crashing in here. I'm normally on BT, it's a looooooong time since I was a regular over here [smile]

So my question is, during my brothers wedding the priest asked the congregation to make a promise, something along the lines of supporting the couple in their marriage. Does anyone know the proper wording of this please? My Internet search wasn't successful.

Thanks ladies!

Hello, i am not sure if this helps but i have been using https://www.churchofengland.org/weddings-baptisms-funerals/weddings.aspx to try and get a clue about what will happen when i get married so there might be something on there as i have read a few different wordings for vows etc, if it wasn't c.o.e then just ignore me!!!

    From our OOS:

The minister says to the congregation

Will you, the families and friends of X and Y,
support and uphold them in their marriage
now and in the years to come?

    All We will.

    That's CofE though!
