Wedding colours

LuxuriousPinkDecor346, 19 February, 2016 at 18:33 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi ladies, first post here, I'm getting married next year, colours are red, with a little navy thrown in, I have already sent out save the dates in red, but am now worried that our colour scheme limits what the mums will be able to wear, the groom will have red button holes as will the wedding party, but if I do red corsages that's going to limit what outfits for our mums, what do you think any other colours we could inclue to give more choice

Many thanks

Liz

To be honest, this was never a thought for us. We have our colour scheme (Navy and Blush) and our mothers can wear whatever they like. I'm sure your mothers will be able to choose a colour that will go with a red corsage/button hole. In fact, even if the corsage didn't totally complement the outfit, so long as our mothers aren't bothered, we won't be either.

I've never heard of Mum's dressing in the wedding colour. In fact, I think it's more common to avoid the wedding colour. We had purple, silver and ivory for our colours. My Mum wore teal and his Mum wore navy, both had corsages matching their outfits, not the wedding colours. Everyone looks fab!

So my advice is, pick the colours you want for the wedding colours, let the Mums pick the colours they wear, and everyone is happy.

Thank you, just getting little stressed, family isn't really enthusiastic about the wedding in first place, I wanted to get flowers sorted but mums haven't a clue what they wearing yet, guess could do everything bar the corsages and like you say match in with whatever they decide.

Yeah I think as others have said mothers can pretty much wear whatever colours they like. Also try not to get stressed this is supposed to be your happy time - if people aren't enthusiastic then stuff them. Just concentrate on your perfect day xx
