Wedding Contract Q

germaki, 29 August, 2012 at 14:25 Posted on Planning 0 3

I've received the terms and conditions from the hotel we want to have our wedding, I've gone through them but cannot find anything specific to what package we have selected-should the contract include this? There is a section in the t&c's that say 'provisional details of the services to be provided will be sent 12 weeks prior to the wedding and the final specifications and pricing must be confirmed at least 6 weeks prior to the wedding'-is this normal?

No it is absolutly not normal. A contract is to protect the interests of BOTH parties, not just a way for the hotel to sign away their laibility and not commit to anything. Everything should be in the contract, otherwise you have absolutely no come back if they fail to provide what has been agreed.

It soundsl ike they have just provided you with the standard T & C's which is fine but this should be in addition to the contract for services. Every service you have discussed and they agreed to should be included.

    Agree!

Ours included a full price breakdown including cost of wine/champagne/bottled water/ (you may not have decided what catering option yet so they may not be able to include this in your contract) room hire cost of food pp and how many courses and includes the time we have access to the function rooms and the times which we must vacate.

Agreed - our contract is 12 pages long (2 of which are T&Cs). Our outlines absolutely everything - from guest arrival time at 12:25pm on the Friday, all the way through to 11am the next day. Each section includes details on set up, number of guests, cost for extras that we can have if we want, details of entertainment and background music, the whole she-bang!

I would get onto your venue to find out where you can get hold of your contract, as it sounds like (as others have said) you have just got their T&Cs.

This is where I have a mini meltdown as I don't have a clue about stuff like this Smiley sad I've not paid anything yet (said we would on Friday) so will email them asking if they have a contract which is specified to what we have asked.
