Wedding date has changed and now only have 15 weeks to go!

sarahv75, 7 January, 2010 at 20:41 Posted on Planning 0 7

OMG I have soooo much to do! We only decided to get married a couple of months ago and after lots of hassle with key people not being able to make dates, we decided on May 22nd. But the other day I found out the registrar could only do a 5pm ceremony which was too late for us.

So, today I booked Saturday April 24th with both the venue and registrar so there's no going back now! And i have so much to do, like get the invitations out asap! We're having a fairly informal wedding and I'm not having bridesmaids so that takes some of the pressure off.

Just wondering if anyone else is planning a wedding in such a short space of time? I haven't even decided on a dress yet, so it'll have to be an off the peg one, or maybe even an ebay one i think!

How wierd - I wanted 4pm on 1st May but the registrar could only do 5pm. We then had a choice of 22nd May or 24th April and went with the 22nd May ?

Anyway, DON'T PANIC! 15 weeks is plenty time!!

    That's so strange GeordieBarbie!!

missdeedee, i tried on a few dresses before Christmas so at least i know what style suits me and what doesn't! I really like A line ones that have a bit of sparkle but not too much.

So far, all i've bought is a cupcake stand. I'm just about to buy all the bits i need to make the invitations, and then next week a few friends are coming over to help me make them!

The ceremony room has fake flowers on the oak beams and table so i don't need to worry about that, just my posy. The food has been decided on (fish and chips, and ice cream!). H2B, his brother and our 2 boys will be wearing kilts but need to look into the hire of that. Also need to contact a harpist for the ceremony and get the music sorted. Need to arrange a DJ too and my hairdresser. And book the hotel next door to the venue!!! And probably a lot of other things that i can't remember at the moment. Not sure what to do with the tables seeing as we're having fish and chips... Favours will be those retro choc fish and chips. Would also like some sky lanterns to send off at the end of the night.

    Sorry if i'm rambling!

Sky lanterns are pretty easy to get hold of on the internet so that should be easy to source.

Are you getting the fish and chips form a chippy or are your venue making them?

I love those retro fish and chips, do you mean the white chocolate sweets, love love love them!

I bought my dress as an ex sample which I took away with me the same day, so you've still got time to find a dress from a bridal shop. I think alot of them have sample dresses on sale all year round. Also don't rule out Monsoon and Debenhams etc, they have some lovely dresses too, I was just on the debenhams website and these dresses are really nice (albeit not what I think your looking for!) and for the money, a good bargain!

Is there anything we can help with googling wise? x

(I was laughing that your first priority purchase was a cupcake stand!)

    Hi Sarah

I suggest considering my band Maybe Myrtle Tyrtle for your wedding. we're from Newcastle and are one of Uk's "finest folk-country-rock bands" you'll likely to hear. we have a pedigree of leaving people from all walks of life grinning from ear to ear Smiley smile We play songs from through-out the ages and can play upon request. We are a six piece band of fiddle, sax, guitars, keyboard, vocals, guitars, bass and drums. should you need a reference we have played a few weddings now and are due to play a wedding at a castle in Yorkshire this Sat. We have a reportiore list of songs as long as your arm, and also are known around the country and beyond for our Original songs, but i guess you'll just want covers, which is all fine.

please check out our originals www.myspace.com/maybemyrtletyrtle

    and some covers on www.myspace.com/maybemyrtletyrtleb

and let me know what you think,

    sincerely,

    Roger James
