Wedding day timings

LC to be, 23 June, 2012 at 17:38 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi,

I'd like to ask for some advice.

I am planning for our ceremony to be at 11.30. When I said this to our photographer he said we'd have to start getting ready at half 6. This seems like a long time to do hair and make-up to me. I'm now worried that I may have under estimated how long it takes, and chosen for the ceremony to be too early.

There will be me and two bridesmaids getting ready, with bridesmaids doing their own make-up.

    My wedding was at 12.30pm

Got up at 8am and had breakfast.

Hairdresser arrived at 9.30am and started on my hair.

She started on my CBM while I did my make-up, then we did my CBM make-up while she did my flowergirls hair.

Dress on about 11.45am, in the car at 12.15pm, at the church for 12.30pm!

Blimey, that's 5 hours! Obviously there's travelling time to the venue to consider, but it still seems a long time to me! I'm doing my own hair and make up; I've practised doing the hairstyle I want and it takes me 10 minutes and my make up shouldn't take too long either - I've been doing it myself for years! My bridesmaids will also be doing their own, but I'm reckoning on 2 hours max. Maybe I'm being a bit optimistic... If you're having your hair and make-up done professionally ask them for an estimate of how long it should take.

    Thanks.

I'm feeling a bit more re-assured that can get up at a more reasonable time (maybe 7.30) and still be ready in time

I wouldn't worry at all. I'm getting married even earlier at 10.30 and my hairdresser is doing me, my mum, my mother in law and my 3 bridesmaids and although we have not finalised times we are thinking her starting around 7-7.30. your photographer needs to stop pssing stress to you! X

My ceremony is 1pm, I have me and 3 BM's having h&mu done and the lady is arriving at 9am to allow 4hrs. I don't have any travel to venue as getting ready there so will have to be up in time to get washed, dressed and breakfast and then get to the venue before 9.

I get married at 12 and my hair and mua are arriving at 8am to do mine, mams and 3 bridesmaids hair and make up oh yeah and mils hair! We don't have travel time from the venue so I just need to make sure I'm up and had breakfast and shower before 8am!

Wen I went to seamstress she said it would take me 40 mins to get into my dress so my mother has taken this as gospel and says I need to be finished hair and make up by 10.30 to get my dress on so photographer can get photos! Im sure it won't take 40 mins like
