Wedding Day timings help!

KatalinaNastyCough, 7 September, 2011 at 11:23 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi Guys

Just thinking about timings for the morning of my (last minute ish) wedding, I'm getting ready at home, Ceremony is booked for 1.15pm and is about a 20 min drive away.

Hairdressers is on the corner of my street so a 30 sec walk away, is a 10.30 appointment a doable time?

Haven't an idea on what I want doing with my hair, going to wait until I have my dress! But i think assuming i'll be there at least an hour is reasonable?

so here's how I see it:

- jump in the shower @ 9

- hairdressers for 10.30

- home for 12 at the very latest

- make up (done by my sister) @ 12

- in dress by 12.30

- out the door for 12.45 latest

does this seem reasonable? Should add I hate dragging out getting ready, and once i start i just keep going!

Thanks, Kat

When do you eat? You need to eat, don't want you collapsing half way down the aisle!

IN the car on the way down?? haha

Erm I don't think it will be an issue I've never been one to forget to eat - think my dress size is testament to that!

But good point! I'll put my someone on food making duties!

I would give yourself more than 15 minutes to get into your dress. was trying mine on yesterday and the woman said give it 45 minutes for any trouble you might have doing it up. what kind of back does your dress have?

I don't actually have one yet! Thats on my to do list for the 17th! We only booked our wedding 2 weeks ago, brining it forward from 2014, it's been a hectic two weeks, but we've now got all our suppliers booked, just need outfits & rings!

Are you having a photographer at the home as there has been no time left for photographs if so. your makeup will take 30 mins (including chatting, drinking etc...) then your dress can take up to 30 mins (most about 15mins)

An example with my timings - if the service is at 1.15 i would look to be there by 12.45 which means i would look to leave the house at 12.30

I'd get to hairdressers for 9, just to be on the safe side, bast to give yourself extra time, an hour and a half can soon disappear! For example if you have and problems with your hair/makeup it gives you time to fix them. I'm getting married at 11.30 at a venue half an hour away.....god knows how I'm going to manage it!

Our photographer did our timeline for us, she used to be a make up artist before that so understands the pressures on the morning. We're getting married at 1pm 40 minutes away and I've got 2 hair dressers and 1 make up artist coming to do 5 of us (me, 3 BMs and Mum)

    7am makeup.

7.30am hairdressers. Start CBM, then bride, then mum

10.15 photographer arrives to parents house

    10.30 Bridesmaids, mum, dad,dressed.

10.40 BRide start to get dress on.

    11am Bride ready

    12noon leave house

    12.15 Boys photographs at venue

    1pm Ceremony

Her advice: allow plenty of time. If things go wrong you've time to put it right and as a worst case scenario you can sit down and share a last glass of fizz as a single woman.

We're drawing up a shower rota (first shower is 6.30am) and one BM will be in charge of making sure everyone eats breakfast!

You need about 1.15hr for make and getting into dress.. obviously depends on what dress you have but from experience of dressing brides even the easiest of dress ie a zip takes at least 30min with all the faffing which happens.

And wow thats a huge leap forward!! Good luck with the planning xx

I would def leave more time for your make up & gettin dressed. My make up took 45 mins & getting dressed about 15min - that was with the dress shop manager dressing me @ my house.

    My timings went like this:

    7.15am - shower

    8am - breakfast

    9am - hair @ salon

    10am - make up @ home

    general faffing & champagne drinking

11am - dress lady arrives - putting on shoes, underwear, jewellery, veil etc

11.30 - I started helping to dress the bridesmaids!

Give yourself plenty of time as opposed to rushing.

WSS. Its better to be sitting around listening to the radio and sipping champers than panicking that the car is here and you've not got your dress on yet.

I'd say get to the hairdressers early - or if they're that local can they come to you? Shower 8.30, hairdresser 9.30.

And yes it can take half an hour or more to get dressed - it's not just the dress, you have to consider stockings, shoes, jewellery etc too.

Thanks everyone - very helpful comments!

Will pop into the hairdressers after work and get my appt moved back to 9am, i think!

Thankfully we're not having bridesmaids now so it's only my hair I need to think about. Good idea to have a shower rota too, just realised how many people are actually getting ready at my house, me, my 2 sisters and my 2 best friends, plus BIL (although he can get in first and sod off out the way to whereever my OH is ?)
