Wedding dress advice

starbright, 24 August, 2013 at 18:32 Posted on Planning 0 2

HI All,

just hoping for a bit of advice regarding my wedding dress, ok, here we go lol,

just wondering when you all had her first fitting etc, as i feel like im being a bit messed around by wedding dress shop.

my wedding is 22nd Feb 14, and being miss organised i ordered my dress last November, which i thought was best as i wanted to get everything done and dusted early on.

Well i was originally told that my wedding dress would be in april/may time, so i thought ok, a bit early but this must be the way it work, then i was told in may that no way, thats to early so we will have it in oct/nov, now when i called them today they say i will get it about 3 weeks before the wedding, and im starting to get a bit confused as i have been reading that you have all these dress fittings, and im not sure how it works...

Any advice will be very much appreciated

    Hello Smiley smile

    we're getting married 14th feb 2014.

Purchased my dress in may (it's an off the rack dress)

My 1st fitting is on 12th December, it maybe that they don't have the room to store it? Can you request that it comes in a little earlier? No harm in asking?

    hope that helps!

Fittings take no time at all (a matter of weeks). Bridal shops will want to get you fitted as close to your wedding as possible to reduce the risk of you losing/gaining weight and the dress no longer fitting. I imagine they have requested that delivery scale due to storage reasons. I would be fine with those timescales so I wouldn't worry.

I'm in a slightly different boat to you as I bought my dress in a sample sale so it's already in the shop.

They have suggested I go in a month before my wedding to have a final fitting (it almost fits me already) and then they'll alter it and clean it. Then I guess I'll try it on again a week or something before my wedding but it should be perfect by then and worst comes to the worst they can do a last minute adjustment.
