Wedding dress nightmare!!

Sparkly Bride, 29 July, 2011 at 18:41 Posted on Planning 0 7

Thought I had found the perfect dress amanda wyatt madrid however wasn't overly keen on the ruffles but the bodice more than made up for it. So after trying on 3 times decided to take my best friend along for a final opinion and shes hates it!! I know its my decision but we have very similar taste so know she would tell me the truth. She loved the bodice but hated the ruffles so maybe she just confirmed what I was thinking deep down. I then (very disheartened ) decided to try a grecian style dress which I had'nt considered trying before and its very beautiful. It has a very small diamante detail on the bodice and then crystal buttons down the back, very very simple but so elegant. I am completly back to square one now!!! I love the simplicity of this dress which is by romantica devon. Very elegant but not sure if its to simple or is less more???

I have tried the Madrid dress on and felt exactly the same as you, loved the bodice, not so sure on the ruffles. I think if you are not sure on any part of your dress then its not the right one. You have to love every bit of it.

Do you have a flash of the new one you tried?

Yes the lady allowed us to take a couple of photos so il try and put one on in a bit (not sure I can flash on here yet as im quite new). I have just scoured the romantica website and cant find my dress but apparently thats quite common with some of there dresses. I agree about the madrid dress the bodice is stunning but would look so much better with a simpler bottom xx

Ah thankyou for that. The madrid is stunning and if I could tweak it about it would be the one!. I have realised today I have got 13months to find something and think I have just rushed in wanting to buy just so I can say I have got it. Getting over excited, then frustrated when I dont like something. Im going to try and enjoy the rest of the dress trying as im sure I will find something I love when I least expect it xx

OO the Madrid is very simllar to the one love.. we went to a catwalk show with my MIL2B and she didn't comment on any dress exp mine and said.. err thats horrible!! lol.

You have to love every bit of your dress.. did you before your BM put doubt in your mind??

I love the dress but then i'm bias now to the ruffles :-)

You could get a dress made to mimic the bodice but tailor the skirt how you want it? My pal, who marries a fortnight before us, has done this and I don't think it worked out much more expensive than the dresses she was looking at ~£1500. She was finding she liked the bodice and not the skirt or the other way round so opted to go this route

Definately take your time in deciding!

For one reason or another, I felt rushed/ pressured in buying my dress quickly and I`ve bought an Amanda Wyatt one and I keep having dress wobbles. I went back after we paid the non refundable deposit and I love it again but that was 4 months ago. So I`m worrying again slightly that I`ve chosen the wrong one....I just really hope I love it again when it comes in, in the right size. :-/

Choosing a wedding dress is often a demanding and exhausting time. Although initially it seems wonderful to walk through stores in search of famous dresses to be kept in mind that time because it can turn into one awful. Thus the whole ritual of buying a wedding dress is truly a nightmare.
