Wedding favours - doubting myself!

rainforest7sparkle, 3 February, 2014 at 13:37 Posted on Planning 0 14

I am having a vintage themed wedding and suggested last summer to my MOH that I liked the idea of jars of jam for favours. She grabbed hold of the idea and ran with it and spent all summer/autumn making strawberry, raspberry and blackberry jam! She made enough for every guest at the wedding (except children who are getting something different). Now with just over 7 weeks to go I am worrying about giving the men jam and the problem is I have no money left in my budget to buy anything else that I haven't planned.

Will jam be ok for the men?! Am I just having one of those stupid bride panicky moments??!

I think it's a good favour, especially if it's home made! If it's an edible favour then most likey it would get opened and eaten there and then (I don't like this happening, I think it's rude for some reason!?) Jam I think people would take home and enjoy. Go for it!

My Oh would think he'd died and gone to heaven - he loves jam. Go for it. I think your MIL has done something wonderful for you.

That's really pretty, I'm going for a similar jam jar cover and tieing them with hessian and attaching a luggage label to it which I have printed their name on one side of and the other side is pre-printed with words like Love, Cherish, Together, Forever and then a short dictionary definition underneath. It looks lovely. I think it's too late to add alcohol now, all the jars are sealed air tight so can't change them now.

I'm having little pots of jam made for everyone - my friends mum makes it. She is making strawberry and champage jam for us Smiley smileWe wre going to make heart shaped shortbread biscuits for everyone too but have decided that will take too long. The children are getting a little easter egg as we are getting married on Easter Sunday Smiley laugh
