wedding flowers for this August

syppox2000, 28 July, 2011 at 10:44 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi everyone. I had decided on all my flowers but have been now told that the sweet pea will not be good for the 13th August this year. My bouquet was going to be pastel colours of just sweet pea and the bridesmaids were having the same with daisies in theirs.
We are having tin can flower arrangements with rustic, country wild flowers in the marquee and church. Any ideas what I could have for my bouquet would be great as I am clueless! Pictures would be amazing too as I just don't know what is seasonal. Thanks in advance x

I'm having similar issues to you, but i wanted Lavender plants and have just been told they go out of season at the end of august, when my wedding is.

We're thinking of having Hydrangea with some other country-ish blooms. My florist suggested Muscari to me but they're quite a deep blu-ish purple. Hydrangea can come in pales though.

I'm having hydrageas and have been told they're going to be expensive as they are out of season end of August (though all googling has told me otherwise)

I've found that too Dolly! I even found that for lavender, that it can grow right into September if the right conditions but, florist is insisting it will be too difficult to get hold of.

I'm actually considering knocking on doors of people with lovely hydrangeas in their gardens and asking if I could buy a couple of blooms off them ? that said, if my sodding florist doesn't start returning my messages that may be my only option ?

My gran had the most amazing hydrangea (bluey/purple) bush in her garden but sadly her house has now been sold.

I can't help with the look you're going for I'm afraid but I'm having sunflowers, roses and lisianthus

Thanks for all your help, sorry Ive not been in touch but our Internet went down. Florist now says sweet pea may be ok! She also gave me a list of flowers that fit the theme and are in season: love in a mist ( small blue flower). There is also lovely foliages such as silver eucalyptus, rosemary and flowering mint. Other seasonal flowers include lissianthus, dill, stephanotis, freesia, delphiniums, larkspur, hydrangea, stocks, phlox and dahlias. These are all gorgeous and avaliable in a range of colours.

Lots to decide on now but thanks for all your great replies x

When choosing the flowers for your bouquet and other decorative needs, you need to consider your budget, season of wedding, overall theme and your personality.
