Wedding Gift List

panda2011, 17 January, 2011 at 21:22 Posted on Planning 0 7

Sorry i know this has been done countless times before & is a contraversial subject but what companies are you using for your wedding gift lists? I don't want to stick with 1 store like a Debenhams or John Lewis list as what we want (Emma Bridgewater dinner service) won't be available from 1 department store. I also want to put a decent food mixer on there (you never know who might be feelng generous!). Obviously the way forward is to use a 'gift list company' as opposed to using a store but which one to use? Who have you all gone with? ?

    Have a look at http://www.marriagegiftlist.com/

I think this is a great service - it's free to use, you can link to any shop on the internet to add a gift, and you can personalise your invite webpage and put directions to your venue/wedding etc.

We haven't 100% decided we're going to do a gift list yet, but I think this site is the best I've seen.

I had a look at http://www.nearlymarried.co.uk/ a while ago and they seemed to ahve everything I wanted BUT........ for a few months now there's a notice saying their gift list is full and they aren't taking any new lists. Now whether they are full which seems a bit odd or something more sinister is happening I don't know. I want something that combines honeymoon stuff/housestuff/charity things - in other words a bit of everything.

Ok so a bit of an update........ I emailed nearlymarried and they have told me they won't be able to help I'll have to find something else. Seems strange that sooooooooo many people are using the system that they can't cope with demand, so seems they might be folding up. Would love to hear if anyone else has info.

Gift certificates to the location where the bride and groom have their wedding registry are appropriate. If you know the bride and groom well, a gift certificate to their favorite shop will do nicely.

I would suggest you look at www.lilacblueweddings.com. You can do a bunch of stuff with your lists there... things as well as honeymoon contributions, Experience days like tea at the Ritz and lots of lovely household things too.

They are an online company so dont have a shop to go to but the customer service is great and they have an account manager to walk you through the process
