Wedding in Cyprus

donnaclarke65, 29 May, 2011 at 15:53 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 6

I've finally made my decision to get married in Cyprus!!!!!!

Can anyone advise on the best way to get all your guests holidays planned and try to ensure they all stay in the same complex/area, and also wording to advise this in the wedding invitations?

Any advice greatly appreciated?

We are getting married abroad also, We got boarding card invites made up with luggage label date reminders (fridge magnets - these are actually business cards with a hole punched in corner with colour scheme ribbon and a small magnet stuck to the back) then also included an information page with details of the area, currency, flights etc and explained that we are staying in a certain hotel, incl rates and the website and stated that we would love everyone to stay there.....we then put all that in a 'holiday wallet' style holder so it appeared that our guests had booked a holiday and their information had just arrived through the door.....I must admit I wasnt expecting the response we got, people loved them, they were also impressed that we had taken the hassel away from them re finding out flight info, prices of transfers and finding a hotel....

If you want me to put up a picture let me know.....i hope this helps..

    Where are you getting married?

I love the idea of sending out an information pack, a picture would be great - I'm not the creative sort so any inspiration would be appreciated and definately agree its a great idea to take the hassle away from guests the last thing anyone wants is for the wedding to seem like a chore!

Are you planning the wedding yourself or going through a planners?

Why not try Perfect Weddings Abroad - they have a separate division now which handles wedding groups for travel and accommodation.

My daughter gets married out here in September and we have booked six villas (all next to each other) for her guests to sub-book rooms. She build her own wedding website and put all the plans and arrangements on there and then just directed guests to that in her wedding invitations. Seems to be working!

We're getting married in Turkey, We just love it there.

Here's a picture of our invites, with the single sheet of info for our guests.....I hope it gives you an idea for your own wedding.

We have Turkey based planners, I've never had 'that' image of my wedding day so im happy to give the reins to someone else to prepare our day, to be honest she's been great so far.

    Good luck with the invites.

    Hi Oludeniz

I would love to get married in Olu Deniz. Who have you booked with? We are looking at marrying in 2013, how far in advance can you book?

Cyprus is currently our 2nd choice.

Our budget is going to be about £6000 including the holiday itself, do you think that will be enough? Ideally I'd like to invite only about 30 people, but the mother-in-law to be is very pushy and is trying to insist on up to 50.

    Thanks for any advice

    Leanne x

    Hi Leanne,

We booked our wedding through Olu Deniz weddings, its a family run company based in Turkey and actually the same company as olu Deniz Beach Weddings, Moira owns and runs Olu Deniz Weddings, we have been impressed with her quick responses and full answers to what seemed like hundreds of questions that we threw a her. she has also called us from Turkey to answer questions and thought of nothing of spending 45 minutes on the phone.

We are getting married in 2013, so they are therefore taking bookings for then. They have quite a variety of packages and you can add things and remove things to taylor to your needs.

Our package is built around 30 people and with the weeks holiday included (we're booking that through the wedding planner to for us and our guests) would come in at under £6k (depending on how expensive your dress is going to be). Obv the more people you have the more its going to cost to feed them, plus venues abroad are generally built for more intimate weddings and some may not accomodate 50, so bear that in mind when choosing a venue, also bear in mind that it's your day to share with the people you and your fiance want there.

From the experience we've had with them i would recommend them.

    Happy wedding venue hunting

    Oludeniz x
