Wedding in Mexico - Help !!!!

Ilona, 10 August, 2010 at 12:18 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 8

Hi,

My fiance and I have decided to get married in Cancun, Mexico. We know the date we want and the venue (Riu Palace Las Americas), but im really struggling with how exactly to begin booking it. We have quite a large wedding party (all London based) who want to come and can potentially do a group booking of around 50 people.

Can anyone reccomend any good companies i should approach for a quote? Or does anyone have experience of booking the whole thing them selves who could give me an idea of whats involved?

Im probably the only bride who is, so far, not enjoying arranging her wedding Smiley sad

Any advice would be greatly welcomed.

Regards

Have you tried contacting teh hotel directly? If they do weddings they will have a wedding planner most likely and can advise you from their end.

Don't you have a wedding planner?

I think you don't need to worry. The planner will arrenge all the things.

Hi, i am also planning to get married in Cancun in May 2012, we went two years ago and stayed in the Riu Caribe and loved it!

i am also finding it difficult to know where to begin, i know it's a little early to book anything but would like to at least know what i'm doing! i'm planning on going to the national wedding fayre in October as i hear they do have stands dealing with weddings abroad.

would be great if we could share tips if we find out anything : )

    Hey,

Thank you for your mail. Ive now booked tickets for the wedding fayre too on the first october so hopefully this will shed some light! So thank you for that tip.

Im also going to see a travel agent tonight to get some prices from them, might as well cover all options. We have decided to bring the wedding forward to Janruary 2012 as the cost is significantly cheaper.

Have you decided which hotel to get married in as of yet?

Ill give you some info in regards to the travel agent packages and things next week.

    Happy planning x

Thank you for replying, how was the wedding fayre? i am going on sunday and looking forward to it!

we are either looking at the Riu caribe or the same as you - did you have any look on the prices? i went to a travel agent and put my name down for details as soon as there available and she said you can get good discounts for booking early so fingers crossed!

    Happy planning x

Hiya! Ive booked the Riu Cancun for my wedding in 6 months time. I a booked it with thomson, 38 guests for 10 nights and myself & partner for 14nights (so we get a few nights to ourselves). Thomson have been fab with making everything clear. I booked it in january as thats when the holiday shops have the biggest discounts avaiable. 3 months later i had my WEDDING DATE confirmation and the wedding planners email address. You also get a price list which is an estimate and totally wrong. If you go on the riu weddings website it gives you current prices for upgrades and extras to your package.

I went to the Riu cancun last year with my partner and it was paradise. Also flew over again this year and met my wedding planner, questioned her etc, saw photo albums and even watched 3 weddings which ran smoothly and were perfect. Two were at the riu cancun and 1 at the palace (same co-ordinator). The Riu palace is next door to the riu cancun. I will say the riu cancun offers alot more to do, choice and a better friendly and fun atmosphere. If you want to relax and chill theres quiet chill areas. The palace is very quiet and relaxing all the time. Any other questions, just ask x
