Wedding Insurance

ady, 23 March, 2010 at 08:58 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hello!

I've just realised that I need to get some wedding insurance sorted pronto, as we have started paying a lot of deposits etc.

Can anyone give me advice on who they have used and can recommend?

Thank you! Smiley smile

We're using Debenhams, they're reasonably priced and seemed to have a good coverage and not too many limiting conditions in the small print, fingers crossed we won't have to use them but they seem pretty good!

We haven't got any. What exactly is it for?

Doubt we'll get any - just curious! ?

Ours covers things like the venue being washed away by a flood / suppliers going bankrupt or out of business / cancellation of the wedding due to family death or natural disasters etc. We weren't going to but when the recession hit we realised there was a risk of some companies going out of business and we didn't want to find we lost a load of deposits if that happened. Plus it was quite inexpensive and as we were starting to book things 18 months -2 years before the wedding we knew anything could happen in that space of time so thought it better to be safe than sorry

We've got it with E&L. Cheap and worth it. I like the knowledge that if everything goes wrong I won't have lost the money!

We're with Debs as well. I'd advise you to look at a number of different suppliers and see which suits your needs best (I printed out all the policies and made a table!)

I really would encourage anyone who hasn't got it to get it - what if you end up breaking your leg the week before the wedding?! Also, if just one supplier goes bust then what you can claim back pays the cost of the policy.

Thanks everyone, I'll start having a good look at those you've suggested and get something agreed...although fingers and toes crossed we won't need it!

We've bought M & S for our daughter for £59 covers just about everything. Worth checking the small print though as some don't cover items for which you've already paid a deposit before taking out insurance.

Also, if you or h2b have any pre-existing do call them up and check. Greenbee said they wouldn't cover me for my eplilepsy when I spoke to them despite the fact it didn't seem to count in what they said (e.g. not having in-patient treatment for it, no hospitalisation within the last year)

We used Dreamweaver as they were the only company we could find that would cover us as OH's parents have terminal illnesses. Make sure you read the small print as this was my second cover because I stupidly didn't think to check the first about this before I paid for it....
