We bought insurance with John Lewis. We looked at Debenhams too, but have heard quite a few bad things about them, so spent the little bit extra with JL ?
We have gone for John Lewis too. I had booked the church but not paid a deposit, we took it out before we booked the venue. Although according to their website you don't need too. Also my payment went through twice in error so I had two policies. They were very helpful and refunded one of the payments straight away so for cusotmer service they have been great.
No they said they covered deposits already paid. Some places don't though but it always tells you in the FAQs section so as long as you read up on it you should be fine
It was between Debenhams and John Lewis for us too, we needed marquee cover and things which bumped up the price but those 2 definitely seemed the best.
Was it straight forward, well as simple as an insurance claim can be, not that I am plannning on claiming I am hoping for the exact opposite! But unfortunately its better to be on the safe side..
Having looked at both JL and Debenhams, the cover seems to be the same value, but more categories are itemised on the Debenhams one - not sure whether this means it covers more or not though ?
E&L and myweddinginsurance.co.uk both look quite a bit cheaper, but seem to have mixed reviews. How bad can they be though, as long as you're aware of what's in the policy, surely?!
Anyway i've decided this is a job OH can do instead ? its boring and I don't understand it so leaving him to sort it tonight!!
It wasn't entirely straight forward but once they had all the evidence it was paid in full. Plus my venue didn't close it was just at risk so technically they didn't have to pay. Took four weeks from claim to payment which i didn't think was too bad myself.
We did, and we ended up claiming. We went with Debenhams (£70?). A glass of red was spilt on my dress and they were very promt at dealing with the claim and reimbursed me the full price of the dress (less £25 excess).

We went with E & L as it was the only one we could get what we wanted covered on it...I kind of want something to go wrong to justify the price of it though ha ha! My sis used it for hers too although no experience of claims, it seems pretty comprehensive
We went with Debenhams. We found that the plans matched our budget well for all areas of the wedding. Again like some people we'd already put deposit down on a couple of things including venue before getting the insurance and not all companies will cover for services booked before getting the insurance.
I went with John Lewis but didn't start it until we had booked our venue.
They have super long 'small print' but make sure you read it all. We are having our reception on a boat and that's how I found out that Debenhams insurance wouldn't cover me for that.
We finally sorted ours yesterday, we decided to go with E and L, hopefully we won't need to claim but we decided we couldn't justify the extra for a similar level of cover with JL or Debenhams.
