Wedding invitation idea

narie, 23 December, 2010 at 21:32 Posted on Planning 0 6

I just opened a gorgeous xmas card from my H2B - and got an idea for my wedding invites.... but is it the impossible? Does anyone know if you can have stencils designed which can then be used to make invitations similar to the style below? Or even better giant punches that can punch through paper - i have seen lots of small ones but surely there must be somewhere which makes them? Any ideas?

Very pretty card! Cards like that, the design is cut out by a machine with a laser. You can get little decorative punches that cut shapes out (I used a butterfly one on my STD cards). You could create something similar either with a stencil or designing it on the computer. Those would be flat though with just the surface, rather than a couple of layers. There are companies that do invitations like that (search for laser-cut), but I think that it's one of the more expensive finishes for an invitation. I agree that it would make a gorgeous invite - I'd love them too!

Hiya, I've seen a few cards like this from Paperchase and they are stunning and often in the high end bridal magazines they are advertised for wedding invites and I once saw one which was £25 per invite! They aren't punched out with a normal craft tool that you would use to make hearts or butterflies etc, they are lazer cut with a machine and so are much more expensive than a wedding invite normal design. There is a website with some beautiful lazer cut designs hummingbirdcards.co.uk these invites start from around £3.00. Other than that if you had extremely good patience and unlimited time you could cut out details with a craft knife!

Thankyou for the replies... looks like it would be way tooo expensive to go down that route - but at least it has given me some inspiration for my own invites! Have seen some punches that punch down the side of the card - so may use those - and have a different colour insert... got me thinking Smiley smile
