Wedding invitations

bubblerawk, 7 February, 2015 at 22:24 Posted on Planning 0 12

Im looking for some advice regarding wedding invites. ive had a look at past posts but couldnt find what i was looking for.

im on a budget with the stationary plus i really don't want to spend £100's on something people will throw away after the big day.

ive still a while of the wedding so don't need to buy the invites any time now but im struggling with ideas.

A lot of our family and friends will be traveling a couple of 100 miles to get to our venue so im thinking i need something in the invite about accommodation and directions but when ive been looking they have all been pocket invites and around £4/5 per invite and i don't want to spend that much.

my question is, if you didn't have pocket fold/wallet invites, were did you put additional information. what kind of invite did you have?

any flashes or websites would be appreciated Smiley smile

just to add im the least creative person ever so while im open to DIY, i don't think they would come out well.

For our day invitations we had the wedding tea towels from weddingteatowels.co.uk. For additional information, also for evening invitations, we used invitationhouse.co.uk. Their stationary was really cheap, with a good range to choose from and it is good quality. I recieved my order within a week of ordering it, that was with amendments being made to the information cards too! I will be using them again for place cards and thank you cards.

Look on Vistaprint and eBay Smiley smile Super cheap - however i've asked for samples from one lady weeks ago and they've not shown.

I've had a few invites in the past with several 'pages' that were just tied together with ribbon.

We plan on having several sheets (invite, menu, reply card) and just shoving it all in the same envelope!

    Hi Bubbkerawk

I got my invites from the card gallery online. They also do matching Guest Information postcards for about a £1 each. To keep costs down could you only order enough for those guests who are travelling a long way (if it's only a small number)?

Don't know if that would help?

We did a really simple postcard invitation with all the info on a website however from the sounds of it most people haven't bothered looking at it as we have had lots of annoying questions that could be answered if they had checked our website.

My friend also did a postcard invitation then printed travel, accommodation and a couple of other basic details, e.g. no confetti, onto an a5 piece of paper and folded it up and put it in the envelope with the postcard. I think my friends way is the best of the 2 and very cheap to do but not to every brides taste as they dont look very grand or elaborate. I suppose it depends on how fancy you want your invitations to look.

Are you able to print them yourself? That will save money. This company sell the biggest range of blank cards, papers, envelopes and invites: http://www.pdacardandcraft.co.uk/

I ended up getting them to print them, the I glued the invites and envelopes together, added ribbon, used a decorative hole punch & added embellishments.

As another hitcher said, you can have a cheque book style with several pages tied together- 1 for the actual invite, and the others for the hotel info.

Also found this company with a sale on: http://www.brideandgroomdirect.co.uk/shop/wedding-invitations , otherwise vistaprint are great.

We just had a standard card shaped invite - A6 size - which we printed ourselves front and inside with the basic information. We then added ribbon and some pearl beads. We did a separate A4 colour information sheet with cut off reply slip. This was just folded up and put inside the card. Came in at under £160 for all materials including 2nd class stamps and colour photocopying. This was for about 70 invites.

I made square cards and printed an information sheet that was slightly smaller than a in a square, using a good quality heavy ivory paper. I folded this and tied ribbon around it. I bought materials off ebay and got a local printer to print the information, probably worked out at around £120 for around 90 invitations.
