Wedding invite mock up arrived *FLASH*

goody51, 14 September, 2010 at 17:33 Posted on Planning 0 17

Our wedding invite mock up arrived this morning! A friend of mine designs wedding invites which specifically relate to the couple, so everything on here means something to us. I know they are different but we love her designs. The invite includes such things as a bike because we like cycling, the Flora London marathon logo as we did this together, keys and paint as we recently bought a house etc. I know some people will find this very "busy" and you have to turn the card round to really notice everything but I hope our guests like it!

Ooh it looks like one of those 'hidden object' puzzle games! I think it's brilliant!

I can see a teacup, a wine glass, a dartboard, an Ikea sign...

They're fantastic!! I've just spent a good few minuties spotting - it will be even better as the guest know you and will understand more of the meaning behind the pictures!

I do love the idea - just hope everyone understands that these are things linked to you and not just a random picture ?

Thanks for the comments, my OH just got home from work and looked at them and decided there wasn't enough colour, but that would spoil the design so they are good to go. Oooh i hope people realise it has meaning, it has a little picture of the church and venue so hopefully it will be obvious!

As we are a winter wedding I am going to put some snowflake confetti inside each invite too to set the theme.

They are fab! Someone I work with did something like this for his sister in law's wedding recently, I think it's really nice to have something so personal. If I was sent an invite like that I would spend HOURS looking at it!

I love the idea they are so personal although like josie i'd be afraid people wouldn't relate the pictures are all about things you both have done or like. For example, do all your wedding guests know you done the marathon? Do they all know you go cycling? It's great for the people you are close to but what about the ones you aren't so close to. The actual design isn't to my taste it just looks like a big mish mash to me and I think if I received that invite i'd be like wtf at first. Hope that doesn't offend but always give my honest opinion. I love the idea that they are so personal though and that you are doing something a bit different.

I'm hoping people realise it relates to us and our 50 guests are people that we are very close to and speak to or see regularly, ie no distant relatives, no random work mates, no friends that we haven't seen for years. I guess all will be revealed once they are sent out and i'm sure there will be a few people who look at them and think wtf, likely to be my nan who won't understand it!

Lol well in that case if you are having 50 people who you're really close to then I say go for it. I think it's a fantastic idea. I should point out that when i said i'd be like wtf I meant if I wasn't major close to the couple so therefore wouldn't know all these things are things you both like.

I think they are great and the people that really matter will know what the pictures means and the others that don't it doesn't reallly matter. You and your OH know and that's what's most important
