Wedding Makeup?

smilesjp, 11 March, 2014 at 16:43 Posted on Planning 0 8

I've been debating whether to have my makeup professionally done or not... I kind of dont want the stress of applying it and making sure it looks perfect and getting stressed when it doesnt look perfect etc, but then I dont want the stress of looking like a completely different person on the day either, wearing makeup that doesnt suit me at all!

It does look lovely once it's done though.

I do not know.... Anyone else getting/had their makeup done pro?

You'll find an even mix. Loads, self included, get a make up artist these days. As part of the package though you have a trial where you get to discuss, agree and practice the look that you want so that it's not a stranger walking down the aisle. The same goes for your hair. Gone are the days when you turned up at the hair dresser and hoped for the best lol. But you also have loads who are sticking with their own fair hands. It's quite expensive getting it done, but I reckon it's worth it for the special day Smiley smile x

Im getting mine done, similarly because I don't want the stress of it. Im having a trial beforehand so we can find a style im happy with. My MUA recommended finding pictures online of how I would like mmy makeup doing, but the aim is to look like an airbrushed version of me normally ?

I'm doing my own make up. I am really funny with people's hands near my face! I've bought some lovely albeit pricey new make up bits and have done a couple of 'trials', the latest one turning out pretty damn good even if I do say so myself!! And the bonus is, after spending all that money, I have a make up bag full of goodies to use again and again!!

I'm having both my hair and makeup done as I'm rubbish with hair and I would hate the idea of doing my own makeup and something going wrong plus I would have to go out and buy expensive makeup when I might as well just have it done professionally Smiley smile

I'm having a trial first though.

I'm having my hair & make up done professionally.

Don't want the worry of having to do it myself as i'm not good with that sort of thing and would end up like a scarecrow Smiley smile

One less thing to worry about.

I'm having a MUA mostly for my hair as I'm quite confident with make up but hers will last all day and I don't need to worry about that on the day :-)

I'm definitely getting mine done professionally! I'm too OCD to do my own makeup on my wedding day and the most I can do with my own hair is brush it!! ?

I was convinced I would do my own, especially after some of the quotes that were coming through, until I went to a wedding fair on Sunday and there was an amazing lady there who does airbrush make up. She did a quick make over on me and, even hungover, I looked flawless. Her prices are really good and she is lovely. The makeup was still flawless 8 hours later too.

The price for a trial and on the day makeup works out about the same as buying decent foundation etc so figures I may as well go for it and be fully pampered for the day.
