Wedding night accommodation-Watford/St Albans area

Freckles1977, 13 January, 2012 at 20:23 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi all,

It has suddenly dawned on me that as we are having the reception in a golf club we have nowhere to stay!!! At the moment I am back living with my parents and OH with his mum so it's not like we can even go home!!! Even if we do end up buying and moving in somewhere before the wedding not sure we should just go home anyway!!! Looked at the Grove and the cheapest room is £350 so have ruled that out. Does anyone have any other suggestions for somewhere reasonably nice (eg not a travel lodge!) that won't break the bank? We live in Watford, church is in Watford and reception in Radlett so Watford/St Albans and surrounding areas please. Thanks!

    The Grove is amazing... but yes, very very expensive!!!

    Off the top of my head...

    the Noke Thistle (near M25)

    Sopwell House (££)

    Premier Inn at Moor Mill (lovely old water mill building)

    The Village

    The Hilton Watford (not that nice, quite old)

    Jury's Inn in Watford Town Centre

    ??? There are probably loads more....

    I've stayed in The Edgwarebury Hotel. This sits in a country lane between Stirling Corner and Elstree. Access to Watford via the A41.

    Its a nice old building with plenty of character. The newer wing is not a nice as the older side (but still far better than a Travel Inn).

    An alternative could also be;

    Based in St Albans, close to the Verulamium, so something to do/see the day after.

    The usual places have already been suggested.
