Do you feel that a wedding planner is essential ? If not,why not?

Thanks

I think wedding planners take the fun out of it!

I'm really enjoying planning my wedding, and actually I don't think I could leave it up to someone else because they don't know me and my personality.

I don't think wedding planning is as hard a maybe it used to be. now in the age of the Internet eveyone can easily source their own suppliers etc without any hassel therefore I don't really understand why anyone would need a planner.

To be honest, some people should have them - was trying to sort someones table plan the night before the wedding because they hadn't bothered - and this wasn't the only thing not entirely organised but enough said!

It depends on the person really, as others say its fun -especially if you like to shop ❤️ I am only starting out with ours and feel I'm getting to grips with it rightly - and thats saying something! I couldn't have told you two words about anything wedding related 1 month ago!

I think a wedding planner -- or at least some level of wedding planning assistance -- is essential for certain people. Me, for instance! Smiley smile

I'm getting married 6 hours from where I live, in a city and country where I basically have a limited support network. On top of that I work probably 60+ hours per week, while trying to organize an overseas move that's to happen about 5 weeks after the wedding. I initially tried to do everything myself initially, but it was just way too stressful!

Finding a wedding planner though was not easy. A few issues:

    - It seemed that anyone would just throw him/herself out there as a wedding planner. Many that I sourced just didn't have any credentials or belong to any professional wedding planning societies.

    - Most wedding planners had a limited portfolio to display.

    - Costs charged were outrageous for many wedding planners. One planner, who had a great style but a limited portfolio, wanted the equivalent of £70-80/hour.

No!! I think even busy ppl can plan weddings these days (although MAG2FMC seems to be an exception but I guess even most busy ppl arent as busy as that!!)

I work on average from 6am til 9pm (sad I know ;-)). However, I will take a week annual leave in the summer and blitz it then. The fact that I can do most of it over email and internet now means that that is possible as I can do planning any time of day. Besides, I want my wedding to be personal and feel proud of what I achieved.

A good wedding planner should cost you nothing. They should save you more through their contacts than what you pay in their fee.

That said, I didn't use one. I enjoyed planning our wedding the way H and I wanted and didn't really feel the need for any more input.

Personally no, not essential. Nice, but definately not needed if you ask me. You can organise a wedding by yourself in 18 months with ease if you just make a to do list and get on with it. I'm the flakiest person ever but with four months to go I'm almost finished.
