wedding planners- how much?

docshell, 15 October, 2011 at 13:29 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi

Haven't been on Wp for ages a BTer now.

My friend is getting married and she really wants a wedding planner (she wants her wedding to be perfect and very high end without the effort of searching and chatting to people) but she has no idea how much she should be expecting to pay. I know it varies area to area but what have you paid for what. There seems to be such a variety of services- some do everything you just give them a concept and others just want to organise the day.

Can you tell me what you paid for what so i can pass the details over to her?

Thanks ladies

I asked a similar question to friends who have used them in the past and they said between 10% and 15% of the wedding budget and up to £1000 on the day. I think this is high-end though as well.

I wish I could pay myself that sort of cash.

Not sure what the cost are for flat fee upfront, probably dependant on size of wedding. Seen one website advertise £2000 for full management of wedding planning including attendance on the day.

I'm not too sure where you're located, but here is the link to one of our local providers

    http://www.boutiqueweddingevents.com/#/services/4551403807

That's a direct link to the services page, so it might help with the idea of costs for varying requirements.

    Hi

My wife Elizabeth is a wedding planner, she is a HIB on here! look her up: www.creative-wedding-planning.co.uk

To answer your question directly - It depends!

I know that some planners charge fixed fees, others charge a percentage.

I know Elizabeth has the fixed fee method of charging. She does this for complete transparency, as there is no incentive to "steer the budget upwards"

It also depends on what you want planned.

Example - a wedding in a church in the town, followed by a reception in a marquee, in a field in the middle of nowhere, with 300 guests, all needing transport and accommodation, is a lot more work than a smaller wedding in a cricket club or hotel, where the guests are all locals and the church is next door.

It also depends at what stage the planner is called in - Some people want the lot planning, others hand over the planning in the last few weeks, or just want some help finding a particular suppler.

Don't confuse people who only offer on the day coordination with wedding planners. A good planner will be able to organise absolute every aspect of your wedding and translate your ideas into your dream wedding.

Feel free to get your friend to contact Elizabeth, she will be happy to run through things with you.

    Best wishes
