Wedding Post Boxes - where to buy a small one???

Gillsy, 27 January, 2010 at 14:59 Posted on Planning 0 21

Can anybody help???? I don't want a really tall Post Box and I've been searching the internet to try and find a medium sized one that I will decorate myself.

Anybody seen such a thing on their travels???? Or maybe somewhere that sells a small plain box with a lid that I could make into a post box???

I'm looking for something around the size of these below. Zippy sorry for flashing your Post Box, hope you don't mind??? Maybe PrettyWild can tell me where she gets her boxes from????

Have you tried Hobbycraft? They have lots of plain card boxes with lids you could perhaps cover yourself. The only ones I've seen in the wholesalers are large ones though.

I bought a cheap one for £6 off ebay and to be honest it was made of very thin card.

I really wanted to make my own to match my homemade stationery, but didn't want the poor quality. The last thing I wanted was for someone to pick up the box at the end of the night and have it fall apart with the weight of the cards.

The one i got from Prettywild is so sturdy and solid, I'd be surprised if they came flat packed likte the ebay cheapies. It cost me about £30 and was worth every penny - if I were you I would seriously consider getting one from her.

ETA - They also have a hinged lid that the other sort didnt have, so can be opened up easily should you want to put something a little bigger in there. I am going to used mine after to store my filled in guest book, cards and any other keepsakes from the day

Sorry to crash the thread a bit - just wanted to say Zippy after seeing the bits PrettyWild did for you, I've nabbed her to do a lot of my on the day stuff! Think her work is amazing. She's now doing my post box, guest book, table plan and probably place cards too! So reasonable and really beautiful stuff. ?

Sorry forgot to say where it's from lol, it was from a craft fair, they were selling book marks and name signs for kids bedrooms. This is a lap desk but it's basically just a box Smiley smile

I've been told that we're having a scale model of D's landrover! ?

He started to make it to wear as a hat for a hat party we went too (he was taking the mick) but he made it too big for a hat and the project go shelved. So now we have a made thing which he said we should use as a post box! Heehee! The bonnet has a flap so you could put the cards in there! ? I wasn't going to have one so now we're having that!

Could you have a look for wooden boxes or whicker boxes? A firend used an old box and just covereed it in wrapping paper.

I got mine from John Lewis for £8 I think. It isn't that big and it's got a pattern on it but I put our names on the front decorated with the theme of calla lillies and thistle. Not that sturdy but then I didn't really need it to be.

I have a collection of web sites on my favourites that I just like to look at, here's one that probably don't have any boxes but you might like some of the other things for decorating one http://www.carnmeal.com/

They are for cards and presumably some may have money or gift vouchers in so it's to keep them all in one place.
