Wedding reception cost?

tidygirl, 14 October, 2011 at 14:00 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hey there all, just wanted to see how much everyone is paying for their evening reception all in (food, room hire etc)?

Thank you everyone who replied to my post, I'm a bit new to all this and probably should of made myself clearer?

I kind of meant just the evening bit

thank you and sorry again x

Generally the wedding breakfast is the most expensive part of the wedding planning.

The cost often depends on the amount of people needing feeding.

We had 115 for the ceremony, 65 for the afternoon wedding breakfast and 115 evening guests with the buffet, plus room hire all day, a welcome drink for 115 people at the ceremony and a non alcoholic drinks package and that was about £4000.

Do you mean just an evening party cost? Or the full three-course dinner + wine + party cost?

    £6700.

The price varies greatly though on where you are in the country and how many guests you have.

Food + room hire for me is £6.5k. More than I intended to spend but less than some of my friends have spent.

Ours sounds expensive, but it seems fairly average for around here, we are paying for food, venue (the whole venue for the day which includes grounds and converted stables, so quite a lot of space), drinks about 12k

We've paid £4850 for a package which includes a three course meal for 65, classical guitarist during ceremony (he is brill), drinks during photographs, drinks during meal, champagne for the speeches, master of ceremonies (wasn't that fussed about this but will be nice to have someone with a loud voice telling everyone where to go etc!), evening disco 7pm-12pm, evening buffet for 120, chair covers and coloured sash, choc fountain (though we've decided not to have it), choc favours (though we've made our own favours so we'll have these with evening buffet), table flowers (we're using these just on the cards or cake table as have a close friend doing flowers for us), and chocolate bunnies for the children (it'll be Easter). We also get 2 complimentary rooms for my parents and OH's mum and partner for the night of the wedding and our honeymoon suite - which is AMAZING!!! We were chuffed to have found a gorgeous venue at a reasonable cost - we looked round some others in the Peak District/Yorkshire region that were double this which was frightening as we honestly couldn't have afforded it.

This is an amazing package!! We hunted and hunted for all inclusive packages and couldn't find any. I'm in love with my venue though, so it's all good ?

Ours was about £6500 for venue hire (use of the hall all afternoon and evening and use of the bar from 6pm), afternoon tea for 77, corkage and an evening buffet. I think we also bought about £550 of wine, though we have a fair bit of that left over.

The food was expensive as the chef essentially designed a new menu for us, but it was a really important component of the day for my husband, so it was worth it.

Reception for 80 in day 120 at night. 3 course meal, unlimted wine, and buffet at night.

Includes table cloths etc too. but still might make my own centre pieces and MIL wants to make menu cards to match the place cards.
