What a week! My poor 6 month old son was admitted to hospital on Wednesday night, Thursday he was being fed through a tube, it wasn’t looking good for our Friday wedding. I rushed around on Thursday, picking up the cake, taking the stuff to the venue, picking up Dave’s shirt, dropping & picking up my other son to/from the childminder and driving the 1 hr 20 round trip to the hospital twice. The hospital was fantastic & he started to drink milk on his own at 20:00, they discharged him at 01:00 on the day of our wedding (massive thanks to all the staff in A&E and the Childrens’ Unit at GWH Swindon).
The wedding was on!
Dave took the kids to his folks at 09:00 and I was free to have a bit of a chillout before hair and make-up arrived. My lovely hair lady really helped me relax as she popped my hair in heated rollers, and then gave my Mum & Sis a blow dry before finishing mine off and attaching my veil. I was finally getting excited after all the week’s drama. The make-up lady was brilliant too, I couldn’t believe how nice and natural I looked with what I thought was quite a lot of make-up on (I don’t normally wear much).
It was time to get my dress on. Slightly stressful as I don’t think the shop took it in enough (I went to my final fitting alone and trusted the shop to tell me the back looked right – Amelia Bridal Chippenham you let me down) so my Mum & Sis couldn’t get it quite as tight as I would have liked. Didn’t matter as when it was on I was stunned at how lovely it looked.
Then it was time to go. We got into the car and halfway to the venue when I realised we’d forgotten the buttonholes, quick detour home (the driver was completely calm and unflappable). When we arrived at (Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, Calne) the venue the staff were there to meet me and our fantastic photographer was turning on the chat and making me laugh which was great.
