I'll try again. Sorry for the delay but had our reception party on Saturday so was very busy with that. (Whole new post needed for that one)
OUR WEDDING DAY
Mum and I went for a walk along the beach and then went and had some breakfst. I was amazed at how much I ate. Must of thought I was never going to eat again..
Tammy, my MOH turned up after breakfast and was still determined that Ed and I were not going to see each other until the wedding.
What followed was something out of a comedy sketch. There were messages going back and forth, between her and her poor husband as to what the men were doing and where Ed was.
It was decided that the men would go to the beach and us girls would stay by the pool for the morning. Well i managed to stay there for a couple of hours but sunbathing is not really my thing. I decided to spend an hour on my own in my room, I had a lovely shower and read my book on the balcony. Wonderful!
12pm Time to go and have our hair and makeup done. Now bear in mind that I never had a trial run so was a little concerned what the finished look would be!
She started by washing my hair and then smothering it in moouse, there was so much, my head was covered in foam. She then started drying it, by the time she finished it was sticking up all over the place. Hedgehog sprung to mind.
Then came the backcombing.... Well, Amy Whinehouse, eat your heart out! This woman meant business. She was like a woman posessed. After all the teasing she obviously got to the point where she was happy. Then came the hairspray, she must have put about half a can of Elnet extra strong hold on my head. I swear if I had headbutted anyone I would have caused some serious damage, It was that hard.
My makeup went well, a little too much eyeshadow for my likeing, but it looked good. I was happy!
Time was galloping on and she still had Mum and Tammy to do. To save time Tammy suggested that I wash her hair. Now, picture this, I have my makeup and hair all titifated, my beautiful Tiara is in and I am washing my MOH hair. It was hilarious. It did help calm my nerves though, we were laughing so much.
It was 2.30pm by the time we got out of there, the wedding is at 3pm. Tammy went rushing back to her room to get changed while Mum and I ran the gaunlet of getting back to my room without being seen by Ed or any guest. We took the back route back, as we came to the lobby I asked Mum to have a peek to see if anyone was around, ( I knew that the wedding party should be making their way to the beach. "all clear" she said. I went round the corner and there was Ed and Co coming towards me. I grab hold of Mum and dragged her up the staircase. Now for a 78year old,she can move when she needs to!
We were running bent double along the landing so we hopefully wouldnt be seen. The only one that saw us was my Son, who said we looked like two little action men in drag..
Finally got back to the room, Mum decide to get dressed in the bathroom. I would like to point out that my Mum is a trouser lady, she hardly ever wears a dress, has her hair done once a month,"just to tidy it up" and NEVER wears makeup.
If i could possibly love my Mum anymore than I already do, then I would have done at that moment. She blew me away, she looked so lovely.
Tammy arrived with about ten minutes to get me into my dress.(thank goodness we had a practice run the day before). I couldnt wear the shoes I had bought, my feet had swollen in the heat but a friend from Canada had taken the bull by the horns and had bought me a beautiful pair of toe post sandels. She had remembered the conversation we had months earlier on the phone.
The phone rang in the room and its Katia, the hotel wedding co-ordinator saying that everything was ready and would we please make our way downstairs.
At this point tammy lets out a shriek, she has forgotton to put the belt on her dress. She went out of that room like a bat out of hell.
When we finally got down to the hotel lobby lots of the hotel staff were ther, clapping and shouting their congratulations.
Katia then led us outside where the Horse and Carriage was waiting to take us down to the beach.
Me, My Mum and Tammy
I had been dreading this bit because I knew that the beach would be full of hotel guest and I was having quite big wobbles about what I was wearing, was I too over the top for a beach wedding? As soon as we got to the beach people started clapping and cheering. I remember one lady, she was just beaming at me. She shouted that I looked stunning, it really helped. Ed couldnt see me at this point but he knew I had arrived because of all the cheering.
When the carriage stopped it took a moment for me to see Ed, once I had my nerves just dissapeared and I couldnt stop smiling for the rest of the day.
My Son was close by and I just heard him "Aww Mum", It was all very emotional and keep filling up while typing this.
Into the Gazebo we went for the ceremony.
The service was read in Spanish and then translated into English, apparently we promised to look after each other and to look after the house, children and pigs. I guess a Jack Russell and 3 cats amounts to the same thing?
We then signed the registerand then the exchange of rings. At this point we could say our own vows to each other. Not a dry eye to be seen, all our friends and family were all reaching for their tissues.
Signing the register
Exchanging rings and saying our vows.
I'm going to stop here and do a part 3, just in case I loose it all again.
Hope you are enjoying it so far.
