We are now Man and Wife.
Eveyone was given a glass of Champagne, well sparkling wine really but "Hey its Cuba"!
We went onto the beach for a few photographs, I thought this might ruin the dress but I needn't have worried, apart from picking up some sand and a small piece of Coral, no harm was done.
.
After the phographs it was time for Ed and I to take the carriage back up to the hotel where we were having drinks and canopies. Everyone else had to walk, itonly takes a few minutes.
It was lovely to have that time on our own. We talked very briefly about our day, mostly Ed just kept saying how lovely I looked. I thought he scrubbed up quite nicely too.
We chose to cut our cake and have our first dance during the drinks reception, the reason being that this would be the only time when we had sole use of any of the rooms.
Our cake was a two tier sponge with very soft icing. Because i had taken my own silk flowers I asked if they could spend the money on putting flowers on the cake. It looked quite nice with little pink rose buds and a cake topper which was a tiny bride and groom that were smaller than the roses.
If any of you are contemplating a wedding in Cuba then you need a sense of humour...and not to worry too much about the finer details.
We had more pictures taken at this point.
My Son and I
Cutting the cake, can you spot the cake topper?
We then had five course Cuban dinner which was absolutly delicious. Music was played throughout the meal by the group that sang at the service.
My son made a speach which was lovely. He said something along the lines of, He had never really believed in marriage, if you found someone then why not just live together! But after today he could see the joy in making the ultimate commitment.
My Mum also said a few words. She promised Ed that she would try not to turn into the mother inlaw from hell, and welcomed him into the family.
I had the last word of course and to tell you the truth I cant remember a word I said.
We had the most beautiful day, so much more than we thought it would be. The hotel staff were fantastic and couldnt have done anything more to make the day more perfect.
So I will add afew random piccies as a way of saying sorry to have kept you waiting.
We had our reception party here on Saturday evening so keep your eyes peeled for a report about that.
And Teddy came too!
Ed looks scared to death!
