wedding report part one with flashs

MIL2B lands in the UK.

Scary music here.

I spend the 3 days before that franticly cleaning the house and moving all my wedding stuff from our spare room to the attic so they have some space. I go shopping to get the 100 million things she needs to make the wedding cake. MIL2B settles in..has a good nights sleep. I come down in the morning and first thing she says to me is....”No one taught you how to do housekeeping hey? Don't worry I'll show you”

Charming!

Spent the next few days running back and forth from shops to get more ingredients for the cake. Cake boards...cake colouring...cake ribbon...cake tins ...more butter..more cream...more jam. The list never ended. Why didn’t we just BUY a cake? I asked myself more than once.

Bought lots of hair treatments but was so in a rush all the time didn’t have the time to do the treatments. Then the boiler broke down.....arrrgggghh. How am I supposed to have my hair all nice and glossy ready for Sunday when I cant even have a bath?

Collected my Asian wedding dress. One down..one to go!

Bought the materials I needed to start making the table plan and name places. Also got the flower girls basket. It just needed decorating. Was so tired at the end of every day. Barely had any time to cuddle OH and enjoy the run up to the wedding. Got two evenings when MIL2B and partner went out to visit people. So spent those two nights practising our first dance amongst other wedding planning. We were happy to know we still remembered the dance.

Table crystals came...woo hoo. Bit worried about them as they looked peachy rather than gold but there website did say that they were specially made for them as normal ones looked more yellow than gold when displayed ..where as although these would look peachy in place they would look a perfect gold.

MIL2B kept assigning me tasks every day which was annoying cause I had wedding stuff I needed to do...was it really important to tidy and clean the conservatory right now? But then she'd start doing it and I'd feel obliged to help considering its our house! So everything I wanted to do got pushed to the side. Do MIL2B's know how bossy they are? Hoover breaks down.

WSS!!! It inspired me to start a Wedding Journal! AND the way you're telling it it's just hooking me! Keep it going!

Sounding good so far..

Had my final dress fitting for the white wedding dress on Thursday. OH had an appointment 30 mins after me to get his suits at the same place. My dress lady was still with someone else so by the time I got into my dress...OH was just about to come into the shop...I stayed away from the front ...and warned everyone he cant see me in my dress!

While I'm waiting I show one of the shop girls my new tiara (second one!) when I suddenly notice one in the shop that’s lovely...try it on...oh no.....I like it. Try it on with my dress and its a perfect match. The beads, crystals and diamanté are exactly the same. Cost? £120. No way can I afford that at the last minute. But the tiara I had now is no match for this new one!

Tried on my borrowed veil with my dress. It matched perfectly. Phew... months of veil dilemma sorted.

Need OH to leave the shop as every time I try my dance moves in my dress it keeps catching on the carpet and I trip. Dress lady is sure that on the dance floor it will be fine but I’m not convinced. OH finally leaves to get some breakfast in a near by café. So I go to the front of the store where they have hard wood floors and look like a dolt twirling myself around! Lol

Dont have any pics of this but above was my 1st fitting and it was the same dancing lol

But its all good as the dress is the perfect length and doesn’t trip me at all. Plus Im now more confident that my shoes wont be a problem as we had been practising in another pair so OH wouldn’t see the wedding shoes.

I meet OH at the café while they get his suits ready and my dress ready. I tell OH about the lovely tiara in the shop. He asks if I would regret not having it and I'm honest and tell him yes. The second tiara just doesn’t compare. He says in that case he's getting it for me.

Awwwwww. Could I possibly love any one more at that point? I'm tearing up now thinking about it.

I tried to get a discount as the main middle crystal had a scratch...the shop weren’t having any of it. They ordered me a new one instead. Which OH picked up the next day.

But still I got my perfect tiara!

Uhm...and two spares now lol

When I said a long report I meant it! lol

Friday was my henna night. MIL2B wanted us to do more tidying and cleaning. OH finally put his foot down and said its not important if the oven is spotless...we had wedding stuff to do. He took over finishing gluing all the last name card stuffs and told me to go do what I needed to do. So I managed to finally make it to lakeside.....except there’s no John Lewis there...argh.

Went into house of Fraser instead but didn’t like any of the champagne flutes. Did manage to get some spanx and a lovely set of bridal lingerie. 25% off...woo hoo.

Got home and decided to spoil myself and go to the hairdressers across the road and get a conditioning treatment for my hair. Was soooooo nice to be able to sit and have a cup of tea and just relax. I sat with a towel on my head and a cuppa by the window and watched the world go by. It was only a few minutes but I loved it. While I was there got them to cut my hair ..the end bits were getting a bit straggly and my hair and make up lady had already said it would be okay. So just a light trim and then a blow dry. Unfortunately they must have got the work experience girl to do the blow dry as it looked awful...so came home..more tidying and getting food ready for my guests then had a shower (luckily we have an electric shower) and washed my hair again and let it dry naturaly.

Found out from my brother that he tried to persuade my mum to come to the wedding but she had decided she definitely wasn’t coming. She didn’t approve as OH was the wrong religion for her. We were all hopping she would come round but no. A few other people dropped out of the wedding for nonsensical reasons...but hey that’s there loss. I had stopped stressing at this point...although OH was mega stressed.

He's only wedding tasks were to put our wedding songs on to CD for the venue and to write his speech...he hadn’t done either!

OH's sister came and did my nails. She put some acrylic on them and promised that on Sunday she would add the red polish and add some Diamantés. I couldn’t wait. Just as she finished my henna lady arrived. Uh-oh ….none of the guests had come yet. Luckily while she and I sat and picked the pattern I'd have, a few people arrived. Then MIL2B really stepped up and got people drinks...put stuff in the oven that I'd bought in advance and was generally looking after everyone as I couldn’t do anything but sit for over an hour while my hands were done. We had the 80's music playing and had a laugh remembering all the old hits. Once my hands were done...she did everyone else that had come...even the MIL2B. OH had gone out with MIL2B's partner to watch a movie earlier on and he came back to a house full of girls. Poor thing!

The henna lady then did a pattern on his hands too. Was a great night.

Me and OH....I look rough but bare in mind I couldnt move for hours and was starving as couldnt eat ...except when MIL2B took pity on me or my bridesmaid and they popped something into my mouth. OH fed me when he got home though just before he got his hand done.

Me too. I turned around to my OH and said: Don't YOU dare!" (I had been reading out loud to him the report - he's editing some photos he took at Harewood yesterday. He was intrigued with the first installment and now has made us tea and wants me to read it out to him as it gets posted. We both need the loo but daren't go in case a new installment comes LOL!!!!

Well done, sarina - you get my vote so far for best report 2011!!!

So henna nigh went well except bridesmaid number two took that opportunity to try on her dress again with her new shoes.

The dress was too long! Arrgggh. Also I didn’t realise that although OH and I were changing in the evening into our Asian outfits everyone else (MIL2B ) had decided they were too. So had an idea that Bridesmaid number 2 could borrow an out fit I wore to Bridesmaid number ones wedding. The first bridesmaid is Asian so she had lots of things she could change into.

Saturday I finished all the last bits and pieces. Firstly called my tailors and asked if they could do a last min adjustment to bridesmaids dress as needed the dress back by the end of the day for the wedding the next morning. Luckily they did it...charged me more cause of the rush but it needed to be done so was just happy it was sorted.

Took the Asian outfit to the dry cleaners who refused to do it as they said they couldn’t be sure the diamanté etc wouldn’t melt in the heat. Came home a bit dejected....then in passing showed it to MIL2B and realised it had cleaning tags already on it...I must have done it straight after my best friends wedding and forgot about it...phew. (Who knew I could be so organised?lol)

Divided favours and name cards and table names etc per table into bags. Stapled all the bags with table names on the outside. Made up the kids activity/gift bags and wrote out the tags. Packed my stuff. Wrote out a running order for everyone in the wedding party...with all the mobile numbers for anyone that could possibly be needed and packing lists. Bought the OH a bottle of champagne and hid it in the fridge and left a note to the best man to give it to him on the trip up to the wedding venue. I knew he would be nervous.

We both need the loo but daren't go in case a new installment comes LOL!!!!

While MIL2B was out we exchanged our gifts. Think he nearly went into shock when he got his main one.

A dedicated signed copy of his favourite book by his favourite author. All his geeky friends are now in awe. Lol

He refuses to take the books into work...says they are never leaving the house.

I got a gold candle stick...looks like the holy grail in Indiana Jones. (Oh says I looked at it in a shop and wanted it the year before...I dont remember that at all)

Then remembered I hadnt made up the post box. I had all the materials...so asked OH if he would do it. I crossed my fingers that he'd remember.

Best man turned up...so handed OH over to him.

Then I packed up all my stuff just as my bridesmaid arrived and we loaded up her car and made off for the hotel to spend my last night as a miss.

OH waved me good bye as he went off to get a chinese take away...he still hadn’t done his speech.....

Thats all I have so far guys...should get the official pics next week so could do the main wedding report then.

Trust me MIL2B will be making an apearance!

Noooooooo!!!! I can't wait a whole week for the next instalment! That's far too long! That's worse than an Eastenders Christmas Special cliff hanger.

Im glad you guys enjoyed it...almost wishing now I hadnt omitted the bits where OH kicked the printer cause it wouldnt print the names for the name places.

Oh and when MIL2B decided her OH should wear the same suit as the wedding party!

I posted ages ago about the fact that she wanted her friend to do our wedding photo's...he'd never done weddings in his life!

Well I promise to write out the wedding report and as soon as I get the pic's I can post.

Made me laugh too. I read it out to my H2B and he said "it sounds like me!" (He is rubbish at presents... for my 18th birthday he made me a mix CD and bought me a book about economics. Oh, how I wish I was joking. Apparently I'd told him I wanted something to read during quiet periods at work. Why would I ask for an economics book for my 18th birthday?!)

This is one of the very few reports i'm actually reading all the way through.

Your tiara is gorge. Henna has always amazed me, looked beautiful. Where was the intials placed and how long did it take him to find them.

His initials are CGD so everywhere realy!

So she wrote his first name along the inner bit of the outer palm.

He found it easily lol

Also one tradition says the darker the henna turns out the more your husbands family will love you....ahem

ARGH!!! I love the report but have just finished packing for my homneymoon as we leave first thing tomorrow and I am now going to have to catch up with teh rest when we get back.

The bit about your OH saying get your dream tiara was so lovely - bet it really proved to you why you were marrying him.
