Hello All,
We got married on 02.11.13. It was a budget, DIY affair. I made the majority of the decor and 'little touches' myself, friends and family did the flowers, decorated the room, made the afternon tea and made the cake, did the photos, it was truly a community affair.
We got married at Sandwell registry office, and had the Stones, Velvet Underground and Syd Barret playing as we did. We had a double decker bus take our guests to the lovely Rowheath Pavilion in Bournville. We had a delightful afternoon tea (partly served by Hitched's very own LoveSka) and two of our singer-songwriter friends entertained the guests while they ate.
Our evening guests arrived at 5.30, then we had speeches. Then Jim gave a speech, thanking everyone and telling me how beautiful I was. And that although his best man was crap, he didnt pick his best man for his organisational skills 'I picked my wife for that'. Then the best man speech. The best man is a long-time pal of both of us. His opening gag was *welcome to Bournville, the home of chocolate. Which is fitting as Jim took Ruby up the chocolate factory before the wedding and she loved it* Cue lots of hysteria. Some people actually told me they didn't hear the rest of the speech as they couldn't breath for laughing.
Following the speeches, we had a barbecue, then we quickly opened the cakes and candy table before heading onstage for out *surprise first dance* which wasn;t a dance at all. We performed a song:
