Wedding ring help please

KJHLee, 14 March, 2015 at 17:29 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi,

Me and my partner went into a jewellers to look at wedding rings last month and I tried on various rings but can't find one to fit my engagement ring. The manager said it was quite an unusual shape and that one could be made to fit and offered us a meeting with their designer for free consultation. Unfortunately we missed it due to a nan's 90th birthday party.

Anyone know somewhere that can custom design wedding rings that wont cost a fortune? We already need to pay out for 18ct white gold so it doesn't get worn away by my engagement ring. Does it really need to fit the engagement ring anyway? Or shall I just wear my engagement ring on my right hand from the wedding day on?

This is my engagement ring.

I didn't think it was that unusual, but none of the shaped rings fit it!

Thank you.

I can highly recommend the service Smooch rings provide when creating wedding rings to fit around engagement rings. They come out to you at home for a free consultation.

    take a look at www.smoochrings.co.uk

ps.....there is no documentary evidence that's shows an 18ct ring is worn down by 9ct. I have both and they have been worn for over 25 yrs together with no problem. It's a marketing ploy to make you spend more

    Good luck

If you are anywhere near I would definitely recommend Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. Our rings are from a small wedding ring specialist based there.

    No.

I have a similar shaped ring. It was made in the 1920s. In looking for a wedding ring, there were several options. I ended up working with a jeweller who heavily advocated a plain, platinum wedding band so as to not detract from the engagement ring, and also, because shaped wedders are modern inventions. (I ended up going to with an eternity ring which he made quite happily but was not his first recommendation).

It was also important to me that I could wear my wedding ring separately to my engagement ring. A shaped ring looks lost by itself - in my opinion.

Your engagement ring is beautiful, btw.

Hi Karen. YOUR RING IS SO STUNNNING! Both my sister and I had custom engagement rings designed and made special for us. My FH went to the same jeweller my sisters husband did. I have a cluster of diamonds that make up a small bird on a gold band to represent my grandma. I have sent you a link to Polished Diamonds that did my ring for me. Because our wedding is not for awhile away, we have yet to get the wedding rings made, but because they use this special design system (CAD) we have a image of my unusual wedding ring created off the design for my engagement ring, so it will sit flush against my engagement ring and be our perfect matching set. We went though the Kiwi site, but I have also put the .UK and .CO one's for you. Hope this helps. They are really amazing and I am a big perfectionist. They won't break the bank as well as I know it is a big stress saving for the wedding. xx.
