Wedding ring wobbles..... to change it or not to change it?!

Arquard, 22 March, 2011 at 13:02 Posted on Planning 0 13

I've realised that I'll be a bit sad to say bye to my sparkles on my left hand after the wedding. My engagement ring is a truly bizarre shape so there's no way any wedding ring will fit next to it, which I'm fine with. But... the WR I picked out is engraved white gold, very delicate (which is the reason I originally liked it!) but now I'm having wobbles and wondering if I should go for something a bit bolder and with a bit of sparkle.

This is the ring I have :

And the sort of thing I'm considering swapping to:

Help... has anyone else wobbled over rings and swapped?

Sorry for the MASSIVE pic, but that's my engagement ring. There's just no way I can foresee getting a WR to fit with it without paying many hundreds (which we can't afford, lol!). I'd decided to wear it on my right hand instead, which is fine by me but I'm starting to pine after sparkles in my WR now!

Ohh your engagement ring is gorgeous! so different!

If your wobbling I'd go for the new one, IMO they are both lovely but you dont want to change your wedding ring once your married so do it now! x

If you're going to be wearing your wedding ring on it's own, a bit of sparkle would be lovely! The second ring is really nice, and looks like it would fit in with the look of your engagement ring (even if you can't wear them both on same finger)..

I wanted sparkles in my wedding ring, but decided not to as i will hold out for an eternity ring so will have wedding band similar to your first one, engagement ring then hopefully a blingy eternity ring - although i had to wait 7 years for my engagement ring so figure it may be something similar for an eternity ring Smiley smile i can but dream though!!

I had wedding ring wobbles!! I thought I was the only one!

I brought a band with diamonds on it because in the shop I was like "ooohh sparkly" and loved the design but when it arrived I just didn't like it as much as I remembered. Plus being a nurse I can't wear diamonds to work so was going to buy a second plain band for work and swap them around ... but then I got wobbles because kept thinking it wasn't the original ring that got 'blessed' and a plain band did look nice against my engagement ring and in the end I thought, sod this, I'm planning on wearing this ring forever if I'm having wobbles I may as well just change the damn thing!

I swapped if for a plain band I felt a bit of a pillock exchanging it but in the end I'm so pleased I did, am much happier with my choice! Just think it's a small inconvience to change but your wearing it forever you want it to be the right choice! My OH just laughed and said I'm so indecisive but I'm glad I went with my heart in the end! The second ring is gorgeous I would have had a similar design if I knew I could wear it 24/7 but I'd have to take it off constantly with my job and to me thats not the point of a wedding ring!

I've found one I love... Walked past H Samuel on the way to work today and stopped for a nose in the window. A lovely lady came over and asked if there was anything I wanted to see, so I explained my situation and asked to look at a couple of the rings. Well one just took my breath away. It's almost identical to the second one I uploaded in my first post, but there's a little gap down the sides where the two bands cross, which makes it look a bit more dainty. It's just wonderful and I love it. Now to persuade h2b that I can justify swapping my original ring for it... ?

Oh, and here's a flash! The picture really doesn't do it justice. It's so pretty in real life.

You have a very unusual shaped ER there and it would be a real shame to have to wear it on another finger. I had to get a shaped WR but was very lucky and found one that didnt need altering. If you cant get a WR shaped to fit how about just a very thin 2mm wedding band with diamonds to wear with it, I know there would be a gap between certain points of the ER and WR but it may just look fine, sometimes they do even with a gap. Have you tried this option?

p.s. have you looked at shaped WR's online, my friend went for this design and they tweaked it to fit her ER -

I changed mine - it was originally white gold and 4mm plain...it was too thick for my ER, so I now have a plain 3mm argentium silver ring Smiley smile both together cost me about £20 though so tis not like I spent loads lol x

I think as u are going to be wearing it on its own the ring u have at the min looks more like a wedding band!!! the one u want to change to looks more like dress ring in my opinion. my engagement ring is almost the same as urs only i dont have sparkle on the side arm!!

My wedding band there is a slight gap when on together but it doesnt bother me so much

Thanks for the input everyone. The ring I've fallen in love with was in the 'eternity ring' section of the jewellers so I know it's not intended as a wedding ring but the lady in the shop said that's what a lot of people buy it for, so I'm not really bothered. I love love love it Smiley laugh AND so does h2b!

Anyway, I've listed the old one on eBay this morning, so if anyone is looking for a nice simple ring, PM me and I'll give you the iink to the listing.
